Default Weird Noise

When sitting in the passenger seat it sounds like this sound is coming from the rear, but I cant really tell from the driver seat.

But the sound occurs when the car is anywhere from 2800-3200 RPMS, it occurs when driving at the RPM range, but primarily when it passes that RPM range from a higher RPM.

Either in gear or not, moving or not, no matter what it will make this noise, rarely it will refrain from making this noise, but from what reason I cannot tell.

It also makes a similar noise if I were to say start in 2nd from a dead stop, or be in a gear a bit to high for how fast im going that requires low RPM opperation for a small amount of time.

As for the actual sound, Its hard to describe, its not very loud or harsh, but thats about the best i can describe it.

Does anybody have a similar problem or know what my problem may be?

Is it a "whir, whir, whir" or a "clickety clack"? I have heard of a "whum, whum, wickee" as well. Is that close? Anyone else care to chime in on a sound?

I once had a vibrating noise at similar RPM, it turned out to be a loose heat shield that was rattling.

I had a loud "skritch, skritch, skritch" sound one day. It sounded like a branch dragging. Stopped and looked under the car, but saw nothing. Got back in, and the noise was still there.

It took me three times to find the branch that was jammed in the tire tread.

Sounds reasonable. From what the Op is describing, its a vibration created by the engine as a certain speed.

Best way to find noises is to put the car on a lift and see if you can reproduce it and find it.

perhaps you could actually try to explain the sound rather than saying what it isnt. That might actually help someone give you some semblance of an answer.

I have a sound in my car, it doesnt sound like an elephant farting
elephant farting ruled out.

It might be a wheel bearing noise. But it would occur basically all the time specially at over 20 mph speeds.

Might also be your rear sway bar links clicking over certain bumps.

Quick fix...stop sitting the in passenger side of your car! HAHA!!
