APS TT + Built Motor + More *Finshed* 56k beware
Well, last Friday I picked up my 350Z after waiting only a little more then a month for compleation.
I had been playing with the idea of doing this to the Z for a while now, and early December I finanly made my final decision and droped the car off at Scotts Performance in Santa Clara, CA.
I did my shopping around at different shops, and Ted at Scotts performance seemed to be the most informed, and seemed to be who I felt, would do the best job on my car. Ted used be a Lamborghini Tech, has worked on Ferraris, Porsches, and more. He is a huge Nissan fan and now owns his own Nissan Z specialty shop. His saying on his site, "The only people who know your Z better are the engineers who designed it" seems to be very true!
One of my favorite parts about the time while I was waiting, is that every time I showed at the shop, Ted dropped everything he was doing to show me *exactly* what he was doing, in detail. He also took time to teach my friend and I things about motors that he thoguht we should know. I felt welcome every time I came by.
There seems to be a trend as to what parts everyone is buying to build their motors. Ted went against this trend and ordered other brands, and to his custom specs on almost everything. Nothing that is in my motor is an "off the shelf" part that just anyone can get. He spent a lot of time, and research on what parts, and designes he was going to use. He also cut out some parts that he felt were compleatly unnessasary, and I trust his decision in doing so.
Scotts Performance is a very professional setting, and I could tell everything was being done correctly with no corners being cut. My engine was built in a clean room with no one disturbing him while doing so. Everything was balanced and blue printed, and sent each part out to be inspected by specialist.
Ted, also likes to put a couple hundred miles on all of his major rebuilds to make sure everything is running properly before delivery to the customer. All steps were taken to make sure I was compleatly happy when I picked up my car.
So last Friday, was the day. I arrived at Scotts Performance and my Z was sitting outside, freashly detailed, just waiting for me. Ted and I went for a drive, with him driving, to go get some 100 octane. He filled my tank, on him, and then we drove back. On the way back, he gave it some juice in third gear and HOLY SH*T is all I could really say. At only 13psi until next month, I am VERY impressed with the power of this car.
When I drove away with my friend in the car, I gave it maybe half throttle in second gear while switching lanes and my rear end slipped out what must have been at least 2 feet. At that point I realized I need to be EXTREAMLY careful driving this thing.
As for the PSi I am running right now, as I said, is only 13 PSI for the time being. Even at 13 PSI the car is extreamly fast, and I am eagerly awaiting more boost next month
For now, my car has only been street tuned, but is running very strong, and healthy. The A/F Ratio is 12.5, timing, and fuels has been pretty much taken care of. Ted has purchased a new Load Based Dyno whichhe is awaiting arrival on. At that point, my car will be dyno tuned at 15ish Psi until next month.
Next month, I have a new fuel system coming in. Dual pumps, and 12 injectors is all I have to say
At that point, boost will go up to 18+ psi
Yes you read that right, this car is getting 100 octane all the time. Ca only gets 91 octane **** water, and The power/boost I want can not be had on that, not even on 93 octane if we had it, at least not reliably. This motor is built to last, and I expect it to stay that way.
Also Installed by Ted, all at the same time, are my Tein Coilovers, Stoptech 14 inch BBK, Stillen sways, and more, all listed in my signature. The only thing I had before this was the wheels/tires/and plenum. Everything else was all installed by Ted, all at once. Ted did a great job on the install on everything. He made sure my brakes were broken in properly, and that my suspension was tuned to how I like it.
So overall, I am very happy with the car, happy with the service I got, and more then happy with the power this car puts out until next month, when it will become just rediculous. The car has been running great for the week I have had it with no problems.
The exhaust, sounds great with no cats, not to loud, not to quite, and is very unique. The turbos sound like a jet taking off when you put the gas down, and the BOV makes the coolest noise ever! Not just your usual Psssht noise. The car drives like stock, or BETTER down low. You would never know it is there until you get on it. It's fun driving around in this with "EYE 1" on the plate. Gets a whole lot of attention
Also, the car revs like crazy now. The pistons, rods, clutch, and flywheel all being lighter really made a differnce. My engine builder felt that the heavier rods and such were all overkill, and is absolutly positive that these Corillo rods will never have any problems.
Well, here are some pictures that my friend ( Jsn350Z on the forum ) took the other day.
EDIT : Link to more pics, please don't post on that thread, and post here.

Ehh, probably around 500ish rwhp on 13psi, but I am not sure. The car will never be dynoed on 13psi. Dyno numbers should come next month on higher boost levels. All I know for now, is I have huge traction issues
