Hey guys, I'm getting ready to put my rear tail light over lays on. I wanted to make sure these are legal in KS. Vu from ksautoforum says as long as you can see the light from 500 ft away, they are legal.

Then when I was looking for a tint shop to help me out, one shop said that anything that restricts or blocks the light is illegal.

I just want to know what the scoup is.

there is a nationwide thread here about tints....since you're not going to, I'll look for it.

 

+1 Check with local PD or Highway Patrol. I've seen the link with the national tint laws but who knows how current it is.

 

Yeah I saw it, it says absolutely nothing about the tail lights. But really thanks for your post.

Another reason I dont' want to talk to the PD, is giving them a heads up and a reason to look for my car. I am not worried about it. If it is going to be an issue I can always take them off.

 

Well the car is in the shop. As far as tint goes 35% is legal about the tail lights I haven't found out yet. I'm just going to take my chances. Everyone I talked to said if you can see the light output 500 ft away it is legal.

I am getting 30% which is just a tad illegal and the tail overlays on. Should be done around noon.

I will try and get some pics up when it gets done.
