Looking at taking a job at Cerner in KC, Anyone work there or know someone who does?
I'm flying out to kansas city next week for an interview with a company called cerner who's hq is in Kansas City. I'm really excited as I'm currently unemployed and this will allow me to move closer to my family. The problem is I've been reading nothing but bad experiences from people on the internet about working for this company. I know that people are way more inclined to jump on a website to bash their work environment as opposed to praising it but I literally could find no good experiences. So my question to you guys in KC is, Do you or anyone you know work for cerner? And if so what is your outlook and advice?

Well seeing how your NOT employed now! You state you'd be closer to family i would say those are 2 big good things about it. I dont think i would enjoy living in KC but if i had family close then? Im going back to nebraska after 16 years being here. Im in a similiar situation being laid off, no family here! Im not thrilled about living in Nebraska again but being next to the family i have left is enough for me to try to make the move back. I say go for it if you dont have family where your at now.

ok folks, I don't need anyone else to tell me that any job is better than no job. I want specific experiences with cerner. I've read alot of bad things about work life balance and being mislead at the time you come on board. I'm not in a position where I just need to move out to Kansas City from Charlotte just because A job happens to be out there. So please only people who know about cerner specifically respond here. Just trying to get some feedback on the work environment.

I don't work there and unfortunately don't know anyone there. I can tell you it is a growing company and I get the impression from what I read in the local paper, it is a sound and well run company.
They made the news a few years back when an inner-office memo was leaked to the media. A high level executive was miffed at seeing so many people were actually leaving work at the end of the day instead of putting in overtime. He questioned their dedication, devotion, etc. There was a lot of public backlash but it has since died down.
If you do take the job and want tips/suggestions on where to live, etc. drop me a PM.

that doesn't even make any since. I was putting everything into context... My question was clear though. I want feedback on cerner or the KC area, I clearly understand the importance of landing a job right now.
