Nope, not me, but a Saturday late night run might be fun!
Let me ask some of the local BMW guys for a small gathering with the Z guys, say on the 5th of January?

p.s.The 325 guy is actually quite nice in person, I'm sure you guys will get along once you meet each other.

cheers.

I'll just keep looking for tips and tricks in the detailing section of this site. Lots of info there. I was going to just get the base model cause it's the lightest of them all, but I think the limited slip's worth the extra cash. I should be placing the order in 2 weeks though. CAN"T WAIT!!
A couple of tips, take 'em or leave 'em:

Keeping clean: I've had excellent results from Zaino, once you go through the initial process, it's easy to keep clean and easy to "shine up" when you're going out. Invest in some good microfiber towels.

Ordering: You'll have to wait 3 months if you order. Although most dealers seem to be ordering Tourings, if you ask your dealer to check the network and look around yourself , you might be able to find a Black Enthusiast a lot quicker.

Who's your dealer?

Thanks for the tips on cleaning. I've heard, or read rather, on here a lot of good things about Zaino. That's a wax right? Or polish? Where can you find it? The car I have now, black '97 Eclipse GS-T still looks pretty good. However, the clear coat on the roofline down those gutter like grooves that run from front to back is starting to crack up some and it looks like a thick (1/4")white line on both sides. And there is a white patch just above the A-piller where it's cracking too. That's what I want to avoid in the Z. But my second favorite color would be what you have! Nice choice. When I bought my Eclipse, that was the color I was going to get, cause Mitsu had one similar, but just had to have black.

Ordering: I've tried to do my home work as far as that goes. Micheal Jordan's Nissan (Durham) said it would take 3 months like you said, but Southern States in Apex said a month. Either way, the longer it takes, the morey money I can save up to help put a dent in that price, so the 3 months is fine. Good things come to those who wait! Good "Z" things.

Zaino is not a wax, it's a polymer; basically plastic, but don't let that scare you away. It won't melt off in the summer sun like wax will. I'll be glad to show it to you; there'll be plenty of chance before you get your Z. Where are you, Cary?

http://www.zainobros.com

I got mine mail-order from there, but there are private dealers around. I have heard good things about Blackfire; it sounds like pretty much the same thing, it's a polymer too. From what I can tell it's probably about as good as Zaino but I've never tried it or seen it in person.

About dealers: If anyone tells you there will be a "market adjustment" or anything (other than normal $540 freight, tax & tags) over MSRP, walk out. There are plenty of dealers (Central Carolina Nissan in Sanford, for one) that don't do that BS.

Southern States Nissan in Apex had that mark-up on there's. The guy told me that there was a $2500 "addendum", I think that's the term he used, on the cars because people were ordering cars for sticker and turning around and selling them for $2000-3000 more than what they paid, making a profit. But the day I talked to him he said they had just lifted that mark-up the weekend before. I don't know about the other places, other than the one in Sanford you mentioned. But believe me, I'll ask.

I'll have to check out that site. Thanks for the link.

I'm in Raleigh. Near NCSU.

Bullsh*t salesman excuse
But the day I talked to him he said they had just lifted that mark-up the weekend before.
They realized they were getting bad reputation about it. I tried my best to make that happen. Steve Jeon told me on the phone he could make that markup go away, but after I took off work and drove there, suddenly he couldn't sell me the car without that markup!

OK, I'm in Raleigh, just north of Crabtree mall.

Well, I'll see what they tell me about the car and the whole mark-up ordeal. I'm not paying over sticker, that's for sure.

Well, hey if you're out rolling around on a weekend during the day or something out at the mall or whatever, let me know. I'd like to check your car out, if you don't mind. Hear how it sounds and all. Cool? Have you cut that sound dampener out of yours yet that other poeple on here are talking about?

A GREAT dealership if you dont mind the drive is Modern Nissan in Winston Salem, they are the largest volume dealer in NC AND SC, they have a pretty good inventory of Z's in stock. It took me less than a month to get mine once i placed my order. You may even be able to buy one off the lot if you want to.

go to www.modernnissan.com and check out their inverntory, they have a bunch. Ask for Billy Badgett, he was most helpful and easy to deal with, by FAR my most pleasurable dealer experience.

I live in Morrisville, BTW

Cool tags man! BTW, I ordered my car about two weeks ago so now I'll be able to "fit in" so to speak. Black on Black Enthusiasts. I have an idea of what tags I want on mine. I need to check with DMV to see if it's availible though. But until then, I'll be checking out this ride:

http://www.atozx.com

One bad *** Z31/32 (not sure which it is.) It's pushing over 400hp. It's one of my friend's friend's car (do i do that right?). He's "car sitting" for him while the guy's working out of state. Gave him the keys and told him to go out and drive it every now and then. I don't mind riding along! it's very well tuned.

Poor guy! I wish I had his problems!

You should really try your best to attend the next TriangleZClub meeting February 6th (first Thursday of every month) 7:30 PM at Chicos in Cary. You will be welcomed and you will see some neat Zs. If you can, bring your buddy & his "responsibility". Most of the fun of the meetings is seeing all the Z's side-by-side & chatting with the owners.

See ya!
