Default North Carolina Jobs

Hey everyone. I'm currently living in SoCal, but looking to relocate to perhaps the Raleigh or Charlotte area. I need some help from you guys though.

Which areas are best for finding a tech job? Does anyone know of any engineering (mech) that are open? I have only 2 yrs experience, but i think that more companies may be hiring than that are advertised. So if anyone knows anything, if they could let me know, that'd be awesome. Feel free to email me. ZRHenry@gmail.com or pm me here on this forum. I'm on it all the time.

Hopefully you Z owners can help a fellow Z owner out.

Zack

Sorry if this is out of the topic.. but why would you want to move out of SoCal and move to North Carolina?! Most of us car folks are dying to move to SoCal!

But to answer your question... Every big engineering firm has a site in Raleigh. It should be fairly easy to find a job there. Good luck!

Try linking up with recruiters in that area... Its a good area for mechanical engineers, I got called for two interviews in that area. (I'm a mechanical engineer.) My fiancee lives up there, so if you want, I can ask her. (You'd probably do just as well searching on the net.)

Try monster and recruiters... Plus, find companies you might want to work for in the area and cold call.

I'm moving because I'd like to buy a house in the near future and Cali is just too expensive. I'm looking at all areas in the south east. I'm searching like crazy, but i'm trying to find a list of companies in the raleigh area that I could cold call, but i don't have any luck or im searching wrong. If anyone knows of any job openings in the south east area or could help, that'd would be awesome.

Edit: It's much easier to find a job via networking than any other way. That's why you guys can help tremendously.

Why don't you try Orlando, FL? Lockheed has a big site there and they're hiring a lot of people from what I know! I got an offer from them but turned them down and decided to take another job in Northern VA..... I'm regreting since the houses are 2x more expensive, girls are 3x heavier, and the commute is 100x worse in Northern VA.

I work at the Columbia fuel fabrication facility. I remember seeing a recent job posting for ME's.

If you're looking specifically at Raleigh, the RTP and Cary areas are the most abundant tech jobs in that area. Other than that if you are looking to go technical N.VA/DC is really becoming the Silicon Valley of the East Coast.

Don't get me wrong Cali is nice, but real estate is just too expensive, the traffic is outragous, and on top of it all my soon to be wife is a teacher and it's impossible to get a teaching job in SoCal.

Not sure how good this site is but I see advertisements for it on TV all the time. It's a job site just for the Triange Area (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill).

Raleigh is ok. I'm currently in college at NC State for Mech. Engineering and know a few people in the area who graduated in this field and stayed around. I love NC and don't really ever want to leave, but love SoCal at the same time (I have family in Newport and visit them once or twice a year).

For those wondering about Raleigh and why someone would want to move here...

It's been ranked as one of the best places to live and work something like 8 out of the last 10 years....

Zack,
the Job market is pretty good here. Just about every fortune 100 company has an office here with plenty of tech positions.

Thanks for the site, i'll be checking there regularly with monster, careerbuilder, dice.com, and craigslist.

I know Raleigh is the place for tech jobs, its just finding them that's the problem.

I would recommend going to Charlotte, best of everything (nightlife, jobs, location) overall!
