***Charlotte***February Carolina Z Club Meeting, 2/5/2007 @ 7:00
Feb. will be a social meet. We'll meet at 7:00 at Superior Nissan and then leave as a group to get some dinner and drinks. And the most important part, check out each others rides and talk all things Z.
Come out early and check out the rides prior to dinner.
Superior Nissan

Come out and see some nice cars and even nicer people.
*I do want to say that if you've never come to a meeting before, give us a try. You're not expected to join immediately anyway, so come out and see if you like it.
I think you will.

The one thing I'd like to suggest to the club meeting is that the president, or club
organizer should have a set program with each meeting to make
new comers to feel comfortable and get informed about this Z club and members. Maybe a little spare time after president's speech is over. It is kind of hard for new faces to just come in and adopt to new enviroment, approch to new people and learning about this organization.

Jong, this is a social meeting...so everything's really laid back. The last thing we want is for new people to feel uncomfortable.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean....but are you suggesting that the president take the new people aside? I suppose that's possible...but it would be up to him. I'll mention it to him.
Hope you come out to the next meeting.

Yes, this is a social meeting..but as a organization, it has its structure from bottom to top -not just a come and go meeting..
I think this Z meeting is well organized and very enthusiast-like. That was my first impression from the first meeting. But I was little lost..that's all.

I appologize that you felt lost. I truely hope you'll come out to this next meeting and get to know the group some more. I'm taking your suggestions quite seriously....and am actually writing a memo to our officer corp as I write this to you.
The Carolina Z Club is all about it's members and we all just want to have a good time, look at/talk about cars and make some new friends. That's always what it's been about. I guess I was lucky in that when I attended my first meeting, it was a social meeting....during which I ate dinner with the other guys and really got a feeling that I was welcome. I haven't missed a meeting since.
I understand that I might have felt the same way you do had my first impression been taken from a business meeting. They can be rather dry and boring for a newcomer as the members are concerned with points of order and plans and whatnot. That's why we've always tried to have some sort of social component after the business was discussed. As I recall, you were unable to join us for dinner after all the talking...which was quite unfortunate. Dinner was pretty good and we all got to hang out for a while...which is what the club is really about.
As I said...the last thing we want is for anyone to feel uncomfortable coming to one of our meetings. Just like anyone else...we want to meet new people and make new friends. The last year plus has been rather difficult for the club as we'd been searching for a new place to call home and several times I'm afraid that people may have come away from meetings with the wrong idea about the club. I know that myself and Robin are working towards getting more people to come out...so if there's something we can do that would make it easier on newcomers, then we'd like to hear about it.
I myself am the club's new events coordinator and as such I'm attempting to get more social events put together for the club so that we can meet newcomers in more places than just at the monthly meeting. The meet I'm planning on February 25th is a direct result of this.
Anyway...again...I hope you'll come out to the meeting on the 5th as well as DJ Smitty's meet on the 10th and then our meet on the 25th. Hopefully you'll be able to get a better idea of who we are as individuals, have some fun and find yourself among friends.
Ok...I'm done. Hope that made sense....lol

^^See! That's what I'm talking about.
I truly believe that this kind of thing makes your club keeps going strong! Paying attention to little bit of details and actually make a serious considerations from non-member's random suggestions, etc.. I must give props to you, as a event coordinator that actually showing enthusiasm towards your club and trying to improve. I must have given a quick thought.
I'd love to make it to this meeting on the 5th, but I have tutor students that I must take care of..that was why I had to leave early without socialize with other individuals on dinner. But I'm going to make it to other meeting though! I'm proud that there is a club that actually carries true Z enthusiasm here in NC and hope it gets bigger & bigger!

Good things being discussed guys. And I'll have to say I felt lost somewhat when I joined the club as well. I've been a member for a little over a year and a half now. But I think with all things that are new, it's easy to feel that way. I think our online personalities gives us the opportunity to "break the ice" so that things aren't as awkward when a new member comes out.
And keep in mind to add to what Justin said, we always go out for dinner after each and every meeting.
And using the term meeting is a necessary evil. When you have to plan track events, club events, a kick-a$$ car show, it's impossible to do those things over dinner among 20+ people at a noisy restaurant.
Although I felt like a newbie when I first joined, I feel like part of the dysfunctional family now. lol
Let me put it to you this way, I enjoy the commradory so much, I make the 1 hour + drive each way (for me) to come to each meeting.

I actually won't be able to make it tonight. I got out of work kind of late and some other things came up. I'll be at the next non business meeting one, 100% sure. Sorry guys.
