I personally do not understand the purpose of love bugs i wish they just eradicated them . I guess for them its cool though there sole purpose in life is to get laid before going head first into on coming traffic great.

You just spray it and it acts like a film. You're right about the coating, it does dry to a clear haze that will give a dull appearance, but provides a oily wax-like coating that will wash off fairly easily.
