I personally do not understand the purpose of love bugs i wish they just eradicated them . I guess for them its cool though there sole purpose in life is to get laid before going head first into on coming traffic great.

Sure does. I've tried it and as far as bugs go, nothing stuck to the car. Just a normal wash with soap and sponge took it all off.

How does it work? Does it dry to a shell-like coating or is it more like an oil / wax type of coating?

You just spray it and it acts like a film. You're right about the coating, it does dry to a clear haze that will give a dull appearance, but provides a oily wax-like coating that will wash off fairly easily.

Probably just a simple color of black. I picked up the clear cans and it just gives the front of my car a flat color while it's on.
