Mazda Rev it up this weekend at Gulfstream
This sounds fun, and cheap too. I'll be there on Saturday at noon with my roomate. Any forum members taking the ride? I'll post my impressions later.
I may head down there Sunday. The web site says pre-reg is closed -- do you think there will be open spots? Could you ask them on Saturday & post the answer that night?
Sounds like fun, and cheap as hell for a day at the track in someone else's car.

It wasn't that bad, after the chalk talk you have time to do the skill clinics - slalom, brake & turn and a practice run- and then line up for the first lap. Well organized, they had two RX-8 on display, one blue, one red, but no test driving for those. I wanted to drive the Mazdaspeed Protege, but the line was too long all the time. Overall, I would rate the event with an 8. ( I won't post my times. Either I was too slow or I knocked out several cones - 2 second penalty for each!

It was a good time -- definitely worth the 3 hour drive down there for me. The Mazda 6s was a pig on the autocross course after being accustomed to the Z
but way fun nonetheless.
I didn't gather up any cones, but wasn't as quick as I would have liked either. It was my first autocross -- I'm a road racer & It's a very different game! It won't be my last autocross though.
I ran 3 seconds off the Pro driver index in the pouring rain, so I was OK with that. They placed me in Pro class (?) for some reason.
If you get the chance to do this in another city, DO IT!

There will be a couple of us with 350Z's if you want to join in or just watch and hang out, we are staing at the hotel right on the track Chateau Elan, if you go state you are with Speed Ventures and get a lower rate, I think 80-89.
If you have more questions email me gusm@sfzcc.com
