Drag Strip, Fayetteville, NC, Aug. 29th
well, since i have been forced to remove myself from the festivities next weekend up at the tail of the dragon, i figured i would do the next best thing i could and go to the strip finally.
my buddy (with camaro) and perhaps some others are heading down to fayetteville motorsports park on friday night, august 29th. they are having an all night test-n-tune starting at 8pm. we plan on being there when the gates open and staying until we are happy. i don't really know what to expect, since i have never done this before. i hope it wont be too crowded.
anyway...if anyone wants to come, by all means do it. hope to see some other z's (that aren't chevy's) down there.

bill,
yep, i went.
best was 14.3 at 98 mph. spare tire still in. rear tires at 35 psi. no preparations in any way for the strip in other words.
traction was a big problem for everyone it seemed like. on the street, i can drop the clutch at 3000 rpm and take off fine. at the strip, 3000 left me sitting there in place with super wheel spin.
i was cool though. some wild **** there. guy ran a 9.2 on a four wheeler!!! no other z's. two evo8's...one ran a 13.9 and the other an 11.9 (not stock). i raced my buddy with the camaro once and he owned me with a 13.3.
lots of fun overall. i look forward to doing it again w/ the new exhaust, etc. hopefully i can get the word out sooner next time and get some more z's down there.

Hey, not bad at all. It's hard gettin it down at the track, takes alot of practice. I wanted to come real bad last night, but my car is still in the shop. Next Sunday we are going to Rockingham, want to go? I hear Fayetteville is a better track, but Rockingham just got resurfaced. I'm going to make a few runs, but being on 19's sucks really bad, I need a set of 17's. Let me know if you want to go, I think gates open at 10am next Sunday.
Oh, that evo8 that ran the 11.9, was it silver? Which exhaust are you going with?

bill,
thanks for the invite. no can do though, i will be up in WVa white water rafting. woo hoo!!!
anyway, have fun down there. why is your car in the shop? is it what we talked about at hooters?
yes...the evo8 was silver.
i am getting a custom made exhaust from r&j, the same set-up as eric. (which i guess makes it not custom anymore)
as far as being on 19's, i am on them too. i never tracked on the 17's, so i will never know if it sucks more. mine are lighter, but i know its all about rotational inertia. i doubt i'll ever care enough to get drag radials for the stock wheels though.

Have fun in west va, I hear rafting there is awesome. Yeah, car is in the shop for that install we talked about at Hooters, I'll have it Tuesday. I'm going to see how I do at Rockingham next Sunday with it, and on 19's, might have a set of 18" track wheels to try tho. I think I'm going to make a trip out to R&J for a new exhaust myself, let me know how it goes.
Did you figure out a good rpm to drop the clutch at?
