^^^ MOTORDYNE SHOCKWAVE TDX2!!! You cannot go wrong w/ this. HKS and everything else is too overplayed over all these years the Z has been out.

I'e had the HKS, Borla, AP single, and now an ARK duel. I like the AP single the best but it started to hurt my ears, next i would go with the ARK grip because of the price and quality of it compared to the HKS now. I believe that ARK quality is better because HKS quality has dropped lately. However they are both quality exhausts. And the borla completely sucked. it sounded pretty much stock to me.

Haha, i thought it was kinda funny to be comparing the Invidia and HKS in the same sentence

My TDX2 is arriving Thursday, can't wait!

You have two options with this;

1) Run Motordyne ART pipes, test pipes without the 'shish' or volume.

2) Run Motordyne XYZ pipe with the resonator module and it removes the 'shish'

I dont see the humor really. i do not find anything wrong with the invidia gemini at its price point. quality is decent, fitment is almost spot on, and exhaust note is well, opinionated. given, it probably doesnt show as much power gain as others but i get compliments all the time on the sound. is not annoyingly loud and has little drone on freeway cruises.

I agree with Duckeee, I had the Gemini on my 2008 as well and it was plenty loud and aggressive when you got on it. What I liked was no to little drone at cruising speeds.

i thought borla is good though i guess not, and i dont want anything too loud but smooth and deep sound like HKS. thanks for your info.

Yogipower, let me know if you have more specific questions about the Motordyne stuff, i've got some experience with it and what different parts can do etc.

Thanks.

HKS is loud and makes popping sounds. It doesn't sound that great. Too many 350z have it or the replica.

ARK Grip sounds good. I'd say it's more mild compared to the Motordyne. The Motordyne Shockwave TDX2 is louder and more aggressive than the ARK Grip alone. ARK Grip + Motordyne ART Test Pipes, is a little bit louder than the Shockwave by itself. Shockwave + ART Pipe sounds like a in-between V6-V8. It doesn't drone either. I've gotten nothing but compliments. It's as non-ricey of an exhaust setup you can get out of a Japanese V6. It's the most expensive mod/set I've done to the Z and I still think it's the best decision I've every made. Proven performance gains too before and after tune.

Yogi, MD stuff is all independently proven on the dyno, and you can feel it's improvements just driving around.

As i don't spend my life a quarter mile at a time, i appreciate that MD parts give me more power and torque lower down in the rev range, so my daily driver feels great and still opens up nicely on the weekends

I would disagree with Deteria's V6-V8 comment, my last car was a Mustang, but i will say that it sounds more like a V6-V12 to be accurate.

Here's a nice Shockwave clip that highlights it. Bear in mind it's a wide open throttle clip, the nice thing about these extensively designed exhausts, is that cruising, idle and daily driving is very respectable.

SO EMBEDDING AT A CERTAIN TIME POINT DOESN'T WORK, JUST SKIP TO 37 SECONDS OR CLICK THE LINK AT THE TOP OF THE VID.

From what i've heard of ARK exhausts, they sound quite nice, but don't seem to have the refinement of the Shockwave TDX2. I will also (now) really look for systems that do not have drone, it's worse than rasp, having tried a few things on my car that ended up with drone to varying levels, i know it's pretty much the devil

^ thanks for your input, but I was looking for whoever got these on their Z in my area so I could meet them up and hear them in person. I wouldn't make a new thread if I was looking for comparison of exhaust.
