Default Raleigh NC -- Dealer

Could someone recommend a decent service department in Raleigh? I have been going to Southern States, however, the last two times have been pretty bad...3 hours for an oil change, lots of excuses, dismissive/rude service folk.

Not in Raleigh, but I can highly recomend Central Carolina in Sanford.

They have been a great Z Club Supporter, and we have MANY members who get service there and have had nothing but good things to say.

RPM in Durham has been reported as good too.

Thanks! I used to go to Carolina Nissan of Burlington (by far one of the best service experiences I have ever had). Can anyone else comment on MJ RPM Nissan? They are the next closest dealer.

i have never been to MJ, but as some of the guys on here have told me, they are really good. i have been told they are very mod friendly as well.

i have been having pretty good luck at southern states in apex lately. i think it is cause i got in pretty good with my service rep.

good luck.

bigdaddy:
who's your service rep over at s.s apex? they screwed me over last time i went there. i assumed they could put on some new rims/tires for me and they failed to mention until the morning i got there with all the stuff that they couldn't install 19" rims. may i should've told them ahead of time or maybe they should've asked. anyway, i'd like to keep going there so could you please give me the name of your rep and maybe i'll look him/her up next time i go. thanks!

my service rep. is krystal hawley. she has been good about squeezing me in with short notice and getting little nagging things taken care of. she also cut me a big break on the 15000mile/12 month check up and only charged me for an oil change instead of the whole $180.

however, i don't know that the dealer would be my first choice for requests that go beyond typical maint. or warranty repair. you can usually find other places that will do the work (putting on new wheels, installing an intake, etc.) that will do it quicker and cheaper. hell, most shops will do about anything you want, while the dealership might ***** (liability, etc).

in fact, really the only reason i do go there is because i want to keep in good with them for warranty issues down the road. i think the dealerships tend to just be overburdened, understaffed and far less up-to-date with our cars since they don't research the issues quite like us owners do. we just have to hope they can at least do the basics as good if not better than someone else.

hope this helps. tell krystal that Sean Dennis told you to call her.

I have worked with Krystal with my wife's Xterra for service and she has been ok. Its so funny how all the servive reps are really just sales people. They look at a chart and say you need something without even checking your car. I bet most of them are paid on commission.

i agree. that is the main reason i recommended krystal. i feel that i have dealt with her enough that she now knows i am not your average idiot car owner and doesn't feel like it is worth her while to push the needless crap on me. i guess not having to deal with that part of it is the only thing that makes going to the dealership for service bareable.

hell, you can really go anywhere you want as long as you keep really good documentation of it. that way nissan couldn't say you hadn't taken care of the car down the road if and when problems arise that are covered by warranty. i just happen to lease mine, and want everything to be in good order with them when it's over.
