Default Short notice- PMI race trip

First off, apologizes for such short notice, but this weekend (4/16-17) is the opening SCCA Double National race at Pueblo Motorsports Park. I'm planning to drive down on Saturday and just spectate for the first race. Anybody interested in going could meet up at 8-9 am for the drive south. There should be some interesting cars going at full tilt, including an ex-T.C. Kline 350Z that is now in the hands of local hotshoe Bob Schader in T2.

Of course, having said all this means I won't be racing this weekend. The GT3 Z is still far from completion and it's really down to a lack of funding (together with a lack of design and fabrication skills) on my part which has slowed the project down. Currently, the engine is out and being worked on, but my best hope is to make the next race at Pikes Peak International Raceway on Memorial Day weekend. Keep those fingers crossed! For those who are curious and didn't see it, here's a link:

Anyway, if anyone is up for a drive and race watching this Saturday, please post here, or PM me ASAP!

Just a quick update on the Saturday race. GaryM05 and I traveled down to spectate for the day and ended up being drafted into tech inspection (I hold a divisional license and now Gary has a regional one) for part of the afternoon. The races were great with some good passes being made and doors being slammed shut in other cases. The 350Z in T2 ended up being the same one TC Kline raced (and wrecked) at last year's Runoffs. The new owner, Bob Schader of Boulder, qualified it on the T2 pole and got a clean start. The second place F-body started cutting into his lead and it looked like a showdown was in store. But Bob managed traffic a bit better and held on to take the win. As we were pushing cars on and off the scales, it was interesting to see that his front Brembo calipers were so hot that the paint had turned brownish-black!

Three other 240Zs contested E-Production, but were easily outrun by the Mazda RX-7s (13B powered) and Caterhams (Lotus Super 7 knockoffs) that ran in tight packs. We also saw some tight racing in Showroom Stock and GT racing. Smelled some high-octane perfume wafting across the hot grid and got up close and personal with thousands of dollars worth of cool cars. All in all, a good day!

Wow. I could cry I feel so bad I missed it. I am having track day withdraw, and the mere sounds of race cars would be enough of a short term fix for me. But the smells and sight, I might not have been able to handle it all at once I am glad you guys had a good time. So when are we all going?? Hopefully I'll have some tires by then...

Will- We missed ya, buddy! We'll discuss any future track dates at the meet on Wednesday night in Westminster (see Gary's thread). From the report of the second National on Sunday, you really would cry if you saw what was left of the Z after a race long battle. Since I wasn't there, one of the crew chiefs I talked with said the entire right side was peeled back from the headlight to the rear flare. Lots of scars all over the car and there were driving protests afterwards. But the Z did win again!
