For those of you planning on statying the night, have you priced out any hotels / motels?
How much $$ for a night?

Thanks,

Chris
The wife and I are thinking the same thing, but we haven't looked at hotels yet. I'll post up if we decide on anything, but I'm also curious what others are doing.

Default Map

I looked into hotels / motels.. Prices seem to be between $60 - $90 dollars. Every hotel / motel that I spoke with told me that it should be a slow weekend and to expect there to be vacancies anywhere in Steamboat Springs. The GF and I are just going to drive there and worry about the hotel accommodations later that day.

As for what to do while in Steamboat.. I'm going to go with the flow.

Here is a route map that I put together. It may not be exactly accurate (and is subject to change), but it should at least give everyone a rough idea of the path we have planned.

Is this map correct Gary?

Well so far as a "Point of Contact" I have about five numbers. I'll check this post and my PMs before I leave tomorrow and print out a few copies.

Chris: Thanks for the map that helps me out.

Nico: That sucks you can't make it. It would have been cool to have a G35c in the mix.

Don: I wanted to go the GM In Motion autoshow, but it sounds like i'll be busy from now until late Sunday. I went last year and it was pretty cool.

L8R,
David

Hey "PeterPutter", If we don't spend the night that means I couldn't find a doggie-sitter, so we would have to be home earlier than 8pm. We may be interested in convoy home....

Default Bowing out...

Well after the late entrance, I will have to bow out of the drive. My parts will not be in until Monday. It would be a waste of time to assemble it all tonight, drive it just to take it all apart on Monday.

Sorry about wasting anyone's time. I will have to make a personal guarantee for the next time, and will by the first round then.

Have a good trip, and get lots of pics. Don't forget to post them!!!

Went to the GM Auto Show yesterday afternoon and had a blast. Nice thing about a Thurs. afternoon was that nobody was there and you could drive whatever you wanted with no wait times. They even had competitors cars for you to drive. I drove a Lexus LX 470 and that piece of **** was the laziest pig I have ever driven in my life, what a waste of $72,000. Ask me about it tomorrow and I will tell you the rest.

As for the drive...........Is anyone planning continuing on through the Poudre into Ft. Collins? I know we won't be staying up there due to me having to help some friends move on Sunday, so I was hoping at least some people were making the whole drive. I might even have to make a stop off in Ft. Collins at some of the many fine beer drinking establishments that they have there on the way home. I was bummed today because I was in Ft. Collins all day working, but had no time to make any stops to quench my thirst, I must do it tomorrow.

Burn: Would love the company...

Darrel: You're more than welcome to show your badself with us, I wish more earlier Zs would come along to show our proud heritage.

Mudd: The weather was a 'bit' warm today at the GM autoshow on wheels, although a very enjoyable time with small crowds as well. I got thrown off 2 of the 5 courses for making too much noise (squellin' tires) but was able to fool them into give me 3 rides on the professional course. I drove a manual (Z51 loaded) and an auto Vette, and the Cadillac CTS-V... awesome ride for a 4,500 lbs auto!!!!

Gary: Which route are we taking up there, Vail or Fort Collins? BTW, Happy Birthday... 21? I have no recollection of that digit in my life... must have passed me by long ago!!!

David: I'll pass you my cell number tonight... will be good to see you again.

I'm suprised they threw you out!! With the way I was driving that Saturn Ion with the ECOTEC I thought for sure I would get tossed, but the dude just asked me to "slow it down, and to try not and spin the tires please"....LOL.
I did get 2 rides in the Vette because the guy said he didn't feel like peeling my tabs off the wrist bands.

Hey Darrell, as always I am glad you are coming, maybe we will see some 3 wheel exhibition runs huh?

The best part of the drive was actually after everyone split. We took out some animals but we covered 45 miles in 20 min. One guy said we averaged 103 during that stretch.

I am sorry I missed it, the night before something came up. I don't have internet access at home so I couldn't post. I am back in town now and the weather is just awesome, I can't wait for a track day to come around.

I would have to say that was the best drive we have went on yet. Very little traffic to concern ourselves with, along with great weather and some absolutely fantastic roads once we bailed off of I-70. The roads we chose to take were some great twisties, that were reletively untraveled, but then had some areas that were straight for long stretches at a time, where you could really open it up. It was great to see everyone again, and having everyone along is really what makes it so great IMO.
The only casulaties or incidents...........well that would be the two prarie dogs that decided to venture into our path at well over 100mph, RIP you little varmits.
Can't wait to do this again real soon.
