David,
I'm planning on being there. I don't have my brakes installed yet but hope to by then. I am hoping the stock front tirs will pass tech 'cause I want to do them in that day and get something decent. These things just won't go away. I have almost 14,000 miles and am not to the wear bar yet.

Craig: If you want to wear your fronts out, just put them on the back and have David come over to do a few donuts!!!

I'll be there, if I can get off work... same old story, for at least another month.

Cheers!

I'll try hard to be there, maybe use a sick day if I have to. My front tires are almost (1/32") to the wear bar. I figure this wil be the last event before I replace them.

Sweet, but where's all the newbies?

I still need to order a set of rear brake pads. My were down to nothing by the end of the year. My fronts are okay, I think, but I want to check them out before I order the rears. I'm sticking with the Redstuff.

Do you guys think that we need to register early?

Don: Sorry you can't make it. Who's going chase down the Vipers this time?

Well, I ended up getting the EBC Redstuff pads, both front and rear. I found them at www.ajusa.com for $115 total. I think it's about $40 cheaper there then when I got them last year from tirerack.com. Tirerack doesn't carry them anymore, or they don't show up on their website. Plus they don't charge for shipping. I was pretty happy with them last year, even though they didn't last too long.

My Z is at Peak Nissan getting some work done. Twin Turbo with Forged Internals.....I wish. Actually, It was making a clicking sound from the back at low speeds, like a bearing was going out. The techs said it was a common problem from Nissan, but they have never seen it before. They're replacing the hubs and bearings or something like that.

David-
mine had the same problem from the rear half shafts. they relpaced the hubs and re-packed the bearings. Haven't had a problem since.
I will be there for sure, pulled some strings, called in a couple of favors and got a guy to come back three days early from his vacation, and managed to secure the day off, along with Sunday to boot. Man, I can't wait!

I will be there. If someone could hook me up with some directions again that would be sweet. Let me know if there is an after party as well.

Thanks,

Ruben

Will: That's sweet that you'll be able to make it. Thanks for the info on the repair problems. It took the techs about four hours to figure out what the problem was. They don't keep the parts in stock so they overnighted them. Hopefully I'll have the Z back today. I am enjoying driving around a 2.5 Altima though.

Ruben: Here's a link to the racetrack's website for the directions:

If you need more information on that day or what to bring, just let us know.

BTW: I saw a new silver Porshe GT downtown Saturday night. It was parked, but awesome none the less. Lately I've been seen nicer and nicer sports cars in Colorado.

Arrrugh Well I was excepting my brake pads this week, actually last week, but it turns out they're on back order from the factory. I had to call the distributor to find out why my brake pads where not at my door yet. These are the EBC pads. Not too sure what to do now. What does everyone think about running on stock pads? I will see if I can get another brand, any suggestions?

Thanks,
David

You can run on stock pads but they will wear down very fast. Last year my fronts were Axxis Ultimates and my rears were stock. After three sessions the rears showed only metal. They can't take the higher temps. Still running the utimates, though.

Bottom- If the weather were cooler MAYBE stock pads would bear up (for awhile anyway). But after running SCR last week, I'd have to say that it is not recommended with the ambient temps we have. As you know, SCR has three major braking areas (four if you consider the Boot) and as Fred has said, they will fade and wear quickly. As for pad recommendations, how about Cobalt Friction's GT-Sport compound? They now make it in the standard Z pad as well as for Brembos. I need some pads as well and will probably be ordering some up if you want to share some shipping...

Thanks Dave and FCallender, I ended up going with the Hawk HP + from Mossy Performance. I had to two day air them in, but they had them in stock. It will be about $50 more than my original plan, but at least I can go now, woo hoo. The HP+ had an okay review on this forum, but I guess I'll see Saturday. Remember the boot scares me.

I still have my old Red Stuff pads if you want to use them Dave, they have one session left in them. The HP+ are not really a track pad, similiar to the Axxis Ultimates I would imagine. Anyhow, I'll bring them just in case. I will probably put my pads on at the track, as I don't think the R4's I'm running will be vary safe on the commute to and from, so if you decide to use the RedStuff, I'll have the tools handy for the swap.

I wish I had seen this earlier...I've got some old Carbotech Panther + pads for the fronts collecting dust in the garage that I would have been willing to donate. I'll bring them to the track anyway, just in case.

Gary and Will: I think that I'll start off with the Hawk HP+ and see how they do. If they suck I may have to take you up on your generous offer. Thanks again.

What time is everyone planning on getting there? I was thinking 7:30 because I haven't registered or completed the tech inspection yet.
