Hey that sounds great, but right now funds are tight until I get some strong business relationships built up in the Springs. I checked the thread, what topics are going to be covered?

 

Well, best to awsk David, but based on the last event, we will spend some time in the classroom talking about vehicle dynamics, do some braking and turning exercises with cones to explore the limits of the car, both with and without VDC (if you have it), then move on to a slow drive through the track, stopping at the main turns and talking about the "line" (fastest way through a turn) and the proper braking points. Next some follow the leader around the track at increasingly higher speeds, and finally a good bit of track time, usually about 4-6 30 minute sessions of track time with passing zones greater and great each time. Also some basic rules of the track (point bys, open passing, what flags means what, etc...)

Well worth it, and all it costs is the entrance fee ($150) plus at least one tank of gas. You'll probably want to change your oil if it hasn't been done in a while, an dbleed your brake fluid. New pads if yours are very worn, but otherwise, my first time through, I went on stock pads.

Like I said, it is an awesome amount of fun, and well worth it.

 

Oh, and once you complete this, you are certified to run at PMP on open track days, and probably can easily move right into HPDE 3 (open passing with point bys for most of the track) with NASA, which is what I did.

Thought I would get my name in there. Surprisingly, I am the only western sloper on this list. I know there are more of us, because I have seen at least two really nice modified Z's in town, who I don't see here.

Yeah, no kidding. It would be nice if we could pick just one day some year and plan it far enough in advance to get on most people's schedules. I suspect that if someone who has never come to a meet before would show up just once, they'd be hooked once they learned what a great group we've got.

 

Helmet is defintitely needed/required.

Convertible's, I really am not sure about. For racing, convertibles generally need at least a roll bar.
