Trusted places for Z's in Denver?
Hey everyone. I've had my '04 Base Z for about 1.5 years now and I really want to play with upgrades here and there (nothing major though). For example, I'm thinking of buying the PAC AAI-NIS AUX input for my stock stereo so I can play my iPod in the car. But I'm not sure if I can do the install myself, so if someone knows of a audio place (or even a Z enthusiast) that set that up, I'd appreciate it.
Also, any rec's in terms of finding a good tinting shop in Denver? My Z is black so I think it would look really nice with black tinting as well. Thanks!

I put the PAC AAI-NIS for XM Radio input. I had to get a 04 Bose Head unit off Ebay for it to work because the 03 Bose wasn't compatible. And I'm not too sure that it works with the non bose head unit. It's definitely worth it though. It sounds sooooo much better than the FM modulator I had in there before. I'd be happy to offer any advice or help if you'd like.

Thanks for the reply. I have a base '04 head unit so I probably need to pick up a used '04 Bose head unit for this to work. Didn't realize that till now! I looked on eBay but there doesn't seem to be any Bose head units aside from the in-dash 6 cd changer (which is too expensive and not worth it since I won't be using the changer).
I guess I need to wait until a Bose head unit is for sale.

Hey check this out:

I guess that it plugs into the CD Changer slot for the RCA input. I really don't know too much about it, but I guess that works with the other head units other than the 04 and up Bose. So I guess that I could have use this one and kept my original Bose HU. Please don't take my word or endorsement because I haven't researched it, but it does looks like a possible alternative. I think that it maybe worth a call to the company if you're interested.
I believe that you can't simply put in a Bose HU into a non Bose base. Amps and different speaker resistance or something like that. The Bose isn't worth it anyway IMHO.
There's also the FM modulator option. The sound won't be as good. It would sound like FM radio with static.
If you need help installing it, let me know and I'll be happy to walk you through it or lend you a hand. I've taken my dash apart a bunch of time now.

David,
Thanks for the heads up on the other RCA input out there. So question: how does the connection exactly work? I understand that one side is connected to the back of my head unit, but I don't quite understand how that connects to my iPod if it's an RCA hook up. From what I understand, an RCA chord has two male jacks, but the iPod only has one headphone port.
Thanks for offering to help. I think I might go with this solution since it seems the cheapest. I'll let you know if I end up buying it.

Fwiw,
You can pick up a cord at Radio Shack among other places that has the two RCA jacks on one end and an 1/8" 3-conductor phono plug on the other to plug into the i-pod. If the i-pod requires a smaller plug, they also would have an adaptor to reduce the 1/8" plug.
I was thinking about getting a head unit with line level inputs (RCA) and running the lines to one of the small cubbies and installing a jack to simply plug any audio source into it.

By the way, it came to $196 incl. tax.
