PPIR is a victim of both regional and national economics. Too far away from its' core markets, PPIR could never attract a huge crowd. Getting swept up by a huge corporation like ISC was likely after years of trying to make it fly.
The shame is that beautiful track will now be used as a private test track or sold to a development company eagar to build more housing. The best pavement in Colorado may be going to waste!

Man, this really stinks. I wish I would have gone to see the IRL while I could. I remember my wife and I talking about it, and deciding that we would catch it next year with our new baby. So much for plans... At least I had some driving time out on the road course before it went. So long PPIR.

This is disapponting, to say the least. Somehow I didn't think that prairie land in south-central Colorado was that valuable!
But it's poetic justice, in a way, after all the behind-the-scenes work that PPIR management is rumored to have been involved with to sink other track projects in Colorado.

It's quite ironic since ISC was Penske'a partner in the Aurora track and is owned by the France family. Maybe this will open the way for a major motorsports complex closer to Denver metro. One can only hope!!

The rumors I hear circulating from the Bandimere family is that there is some new plans in the works with ISC and the Centrix CEO guy for a major motorsports park close to Denver by 2008.

There is a new track in the works for the Watkins area near Front Range airport. It is financed by a fellow named Sutton who has something to do with Centrix. It is reported to be two 2+ mile tracks which connected together will be over 4 miles in length. Presently word is that they will only be for testing, club events and private use. No consumer evnts are anticipated. If ISC is involved and they are in fact the France family, I wouldn't be surprised to see that change sometime in the future.
I can't believe how naive PPIR management could be. They walked all over ISC/Penske plans for a track and then express surprise when ISC buys them out and closes the track. Talk about pissing off the wrong people. Some peolple just never learn.
