Default 1st Annual Mudd Run to the Hills, Part 2

This is part 2 of the thread that Don started for the drive this past weekend (I didn't want this to get lost in the afterglow of what sounds like it was an awesome drive.) I'm curious if any of us who missed it (and hopefully even some who didn't) want to get together this Saturday (October 22nd) for a final run into the mountains before the weather starts to break down (or possibly just a quick get-together locally if the weather ends up being as bad as some of the forecasts have said it will be.) I guess that means this will technically be the second first annual Mudd Run.

Dkmura has suggested a trip out towards Aspen (possibly over Independence Pass,) and that sounds good to me. Even if the pass is closed, the roads out there always make for a fun drive, even if we have to turn around and head back half-way. Weather permitting, how about we plan to leave from the Colorado Mills Super Target (I-70 and Colfax) at 8:30 on Saturday morning? I know that at least dkmura and I will be going...anyone else? Post up if you're interested.

I'll try to make it. I don't know what's going on Saturday but even if I just meet and ride for a short stretch that would be good.

Hey guys, I most likely am out for this one. I am helping my wife host a Halloweeen Party tomorrow night and have alot of stuff to get done to help her out. If I am able to make a small portion of the drive I will meet up with you in the morning, but don't wait for me.

I hope someone sees this in time, I'll check in the morning before leaving, but I don't know exactly where this Target is in Denver, and Mapquest shows Colfax and I-70 in Aurora. That's pretty far East it seems to me for a drive that heads West, so is there another Colfax I'm missing, or is this place in Aurora? Thanks,
Will

That's funny...I didn't realize that Colfax and I-70 also intersect on the east side of town. Colorado Mills (where this Target is located) is on the west side of Denver, at the OTHER intersection of I-70 and Colfax.

Will - the easiest way for you to come (though not necessarily the shortest) will be I-25 North to I-70 West (towards Golden.) After several miles travelling West on I-70, you'll take the Denver West exit, and turn left (i.e. head South) on Denver West. You'll go through some lights, and you'll cross Colfax. Turn right at the next light after you cross Colfax, and the Target will be up at the top of the hill at the East end of the mall.

Hey Brian... I never got an invitation... nor did Will, David, or Gary. Sup wid dat???

You missed an awesome ride today buddy. The weather was PERFECT. The roads were so twistie, that we did them all twice... all the way too Aspen, and back again!

No digital pics this time, but took plenty on my SLR. Will have them posted in a few days.

Have a nice party!!!!

I would have invited everyone if it was at my house, however my wife was co-hosting it with her friend at the friends house, therefore I was limited on who we could bring. Next year though, we will be hosting and I'm sure I will be sending the invites.

There were some hot girls in milk maid outfits there though, damn that was good to look at.

Glad the scenery at your party was good, Mudd man. So was ours on the drive. I have never driven any of the back roads or by-ways in Colorado and was astonished at some of the views I had been missing. The drive was great, and like Don posted, pretty twisty in some areas. I went back to the springs a different route than they, but had a great time. I finally managed to find an open stretch after passing about a hundred people outside Buena Vista. The twisty parts were a hoot as I kept score on how many mph over the suggested speed I would take a corner- the winner was 84mph in a 35, so close to an even score of 50- and the long deserted straights leading into Divide made for a good high-speed run. Thanks for putting this one together guys, I had a blast.

Hey guys, I'm glad Ididn't make the whole trip. With the roads being as good as you sday, I'm sure I would have done terrible things to my new snowies and they were too expensive to mistreat. Since driving was not plausible I went home and biuilt the electric brake bleeder thet I've been thining about for some time. No more pumping a vacuum by hand, just push a button and Mr. Franklin's and Edison's discovery does the work for me. I've enclosed a pic of the contraption.

PS: IT WORKS!!!

Yes I know you were, but I really would have invited everyone if it were at my house, if only to look at the site of these girls in the Milk Maid costumes. Thank god I don't have a jealous wife.
