Sounds like there is some interest in a track day. I'll try to put something together in the Jan-Feb timeframe, so the weather gods will have to cooperate. Once there is a definite date, I'll post up in a separate thread.

Back to the topic at hand, here's some encouraging news from the Colorado SCCA website: "There have been rumors the PPIR track could be turned into a road- race facility for nonspectator races. "We're actively seeking potential buyers, and part of our requirement is that it not be used for spectator motor sports," a senior ISC official said . "That's not to say that if someone came in with a unique sort of development that maybe wanted to turn it into a private road course, that's a possibility, but as far as spectator motorsports, we'd rather not have the facility used for that." Original source: Rocky Mountain News

What this says to me is that ISC is not getting a high enough offer (or any offers?) for that chunk of real estate. After all, it's a lot of windblown prarie halfway between the Springs and Pueblo, otherwise. Maybe the right bidder could use it for testing and/or National/Regional racing and SAVE PPIR! Hope springs eternal! Somebody win lotto and buy that sucka!

If it comes to pass that PPIR is resurrected, I'd expect that it would be a notch above PMI in terms of a complete facility. PPIR still is one of the fastest one-mile ovals in the country and also features a 1.5 mile "roval" (road course with oval), so they're trying to package it as attractively as possible. That could be a double-edged sword, however. ISC is undoubtedly looking for BIG bucks out of the remains of PPIR. But as a club type track, it will not garner that kind of offer.

Without grandstands and many of the buildings that are being taken off the property, it still has an impressively paved paddock and good garages. I just hope it doesn't turn into one of those "country club for cars" that has become so trendy in the motorsports world.
