Don't worry, I'm sure there will be more than 2 drives this summer. I was just making a joke based on our group's experience the past 3 summers; in the spring, everybody says that they want to go on a bunch of drives during the summer, but typically there's only been interest enough for one big group drive (more than 12 Zs), and one or maybe two smaller drives.

Our group is growing though, so maybe there will be more interest this year.

GaryM05 makes a good point with the fluctuating interest in drives during the summer. Most of the '03 preorder crowd have tried putting together events in the past. Why don't you consider a good route for the June drive and post up a date?

I definitely would like to go on at least two group drives this summer. My Z will likely not be here by 05/13, but if we have one in June as well, I will certainly be able to make it.

BTW, where have you guys gone to in the past? I say let's make Aspen the destination for at least one of the drives this year.

Some of our destinations that I can recall:

- Steamboat via several different routes out and back (twice)
- Aspen via Independence pass (twice)
- Grand Lake via Rocky Mountain National Park
- Out 285 towards Bailey, Conifer, etc.
- Others that I'm sure I'm forgetting

A quick search in the Southwest regional forum on 'summer drive' will likely turn up all of our planning threads from these, many of which have pics. Your vote for Aspen is a good one...I'm always happy to make that drive. Hope to see you out there this year!

Getting to ppl to come is hard. I'm fine if 4 cars shows up for a drive. You read my mind. I've been looking at routes for a drive and June is a good month. I'll keep you guys posted.

Gary, thanks much for letting me know about past drives. I just spent an hour going through old threads of mountain drives. The big one last May (Denver-->Fort C-->Steamboat S-->Vail-->Denver) was darn impressive! I got psyched just looking at those pics! My wife and I have been planning on driving to the mountains at least every other weekend this summer once the Z comes. All of us are lucky to live in sports car driving heaven here in the RM region. I look forward to come cool group drives!

I noticed that in the past some 350zmotoring members have joined you guys on drives as well; is that still done?

Last summer I posted an early drive and only TWO Z's came out. We ended up taking a short trip to Mt. Evans and STILL had a great time...

Hey Phu! You bet we'll let you know. Let's talk about that when we meet next. Speaking of that, we never got together since the trip to Wits End; why don't you drop by this weekend if you're free? Let me know.

When does Independance pass usually open? I am going to be in the area over Memorial Day and want to check it out.

P.S. There is alot more local activity on this board then on 350zmotoring.com. I am Devildog on there.

So anyone have any suggestions on a route for this drive. I can make one up, but I thought I'd see if anyone had an area of the state they would like to see for whatever reason.

Also who is down for this drive for sure?

Anyone else?
Any suggesstions for a route?

Mine was going to Cripple Creek, however it seems like that one is being done tomorrow. Maybe Steamboat the same way we went last year?

OR you could pass buy the Springs on your way to Bishop's Castle.. Just a suggestion. I'd love to go to Steamboat too.
