I'm looking for a local (Springs/Denver) shop that sells helmets. I figure with the amount of track I want I need to invest into a good helmet. I recall David recommending Impact Racing but I can't access the site here (Iraq). I also just will have the warm cozy felling buying a helmet I got to try on. Also David recommended an Open-face Snell SA Approved helmet. Do you still recommend this? Any brands better than or should stay away from? Thanks Guys!!!

Robert- I'd suggest you check out the new Morten's Motorsports shop when you get back in town. It's on the NE side of the city and I can give you directions, address and ph # when you return. They carry Impact, Simpson and a few other brands. It's a good idea to try on helmets and get the perfect fit before you commit to a purchase.
As for the open faced SA-rated helmet recommendation, that comes out of a SCCA warning that wearing a full face SA-rated helmet could lead to more chin and jaw injuries should your airbag deploy during a shunt. A bonus is that open faced helmets cost less to boot.

There's nothing in the Springs to buy a helmet at. You'll have to go to Denver. I bought my Sparco at Mortens, and I'll highly recommend them far any safety gear. They have a wide variety in stock, with multiple sizes, and most importantly will let you walk around with it on to see what hot spots might develop for proper fitting and adjustment. Also, go out to the car with it on and check to see that it will fit with your driving position, some did for me, others hit the roof, so it's good to check.

hmm, I wonder what the other drivers will think when robert drives around with a helmet on his head on the surface streets? Shades of the road warrior? :-D
David, did mortens move or are they still near the bulk mail facility off of quebec?

Darrel-
Morten's Motorsports moved to a brand new, purpose-built facility six to seven miles northeast. I don't have their exact address right now, but it's just east of where highway 85 and I-76 intersect. Go east on 104th Ave and turn right onto Havana Street for about a mile.
It's got a dedicated production facility so Peterson Drysump can build even more custom speed parts. The sales showroom is 2-3X larger, so we can spend even MORE $$ on stuff!
