Default GPS antanna placement......WHERE!?!?!?

I am bored to tears, so I might try to install my GPS NAV system myself. Before I get started I need to choose a place for the antanna. It can't be covered by steel, glass is ok. I want it in the car, so I have come up with two choices:

1) On the rear strut brace near the edge. (See pictures)
2) On the dash behind the center gauges. (See pictures)

If you guys have any better ideas let me know. Kevin if you are walking yet, could you look for yours. I looked and couldn't find it and I like the idea of it being that hidden.

When I had my NAV installed in my old 03 Z, I put it in the 2nd picture but beneath the speed guage console so you couldn't see it. It still picked up a signal!

Either corner near front windshield. That's where I leave my GPS antennae for my laptop.

It looks like that antenna would fit in the OEM GPS antenna location under the drivers side upper panel. This is where I installed my SAT radio antenna. See attached.
Hope this helps,
Cheers!

Thanks for the info. I never thought about putting it were the OEM antanna would go. Thanks again!
