Default Some punk in a Subaru tried to race me last night...

So, my wife and I were coming home from dinner Saturday night, and this kid in a Subaru WRX (fast car, but ugly, in my opinion) pulls up next to me, and starts revving his engine (we were going about 40, the limit was 35) and lurching forward, and then back even, and then lurching forward, and back even. This went on for about 3-5 minutes.

So, my wife had never seen anything like this before, and I explained to her what this kid was trying to do, and she and I both started laughing. I guess when he finally saw us laughing he got pissed, because he sped up, cut in fornt of me, and then turned off on a side road. I think his name was We Todd Did or something like that....

Anyways, street racing is dumb, for a number of reasons. Safety, of course, is the first reason. Also, I don't know what the law is in Colorado, but in California, they can impund your car, and if you are found guilty, they can sieze it. Even if that isn't Colorado law, it's still rather dumb to street race.

Just had to relate this funny incident.

Ohh! Ohh! What color and such? I'm on an AWD forums from when I had my Evo and there are a lot of Springs Subaru guys on there. I'll try to find out who it was. LOL
BTW: I would've give him a little taste of the JWT TTs if I was driving.

It was whitish, I think.

Not worth it, though, whether I would have beaten him or not.

it's a good idea not to street race, and if you do.. pick your spots. if it feels the least bit bad, don't do it i used to want to do standup wheelies on my zx-10r all the time but if you get caught doing that you get a pretty steep ticket and impounded bike sometimes. just gotta find good times to do it.

So, do you mainly use your car for track use or something? What's the point of having a pumped up G or Z if you don't crush the occasional suburu's once in a while?

I can think of a lot of reasons for having a turbo'ed G without street racing being one of them

occasional track use, I like working on and fixing up my car, I occasionally like to pass people, and the turbos definitely allow that without a problem, etc...

Cool. I wasn't implying street racing was the only point. Just seems like the most fun comes from blowing the doors off of someone at a light, or at slow speed.

I was in my buddies evo9 the other night and he crushed people at each light we stopped. He wasn't street racing, he was just just gunning it to 45-50. Not even breaking the law...

Anyway, just wondering.

Actually, you can get a ticket for that: Unlawful Display of Acceleration. It's actually a misdeameanor, whereas a speeding ticket is only a citation. In other words, its worse to get the acceleration ticket...

Not saying I don't do that, because I do, on occasion, but just be careful.

Yeah, it was an evo guy afterall... I don't gun it every light, that's for sure, but once in a while. interesting on the ticket info, wasn't aware of that.

dangit, why can't i get people like that, when I drive the Z no one wants to play. I came across a black C6 on the higway today w/ temp tags still and the guy looked over as I came up and he didn't want to play even though he was earlier gunning it here and there and he then got off the highway WTF

In Florida it is called Unlawful display of horsepower and is more expensive than speeding in a school zone.
