Default Moving to Fort Collins

Hey folks, just wanted to introduce myself to the area forums. I'm moving out to Fort Collins, CO at the end of the month. Being new to the area, I was hoping some of you could help me out with a few localized questions:

AutoX/Gymkhana - When and where?
Any notable tuning & parts distribution shops in the area?
Good place to shop for a winter commuter/beater car?
How often do you all do drives/meets/garage install parties?

Looking forward to some good times in the Rocky Mountains!

Kendan, WELCOME! You come to a great bunch of guys & wives here. There is a lot of motorsports coming back to Colorado. Along with the following we try to host HPDE for the Z cars.
Auto-X: http://www.rmsolo.org/
Track Events: http://www.nasarockymountain.com/
Drag Racing: www.Bandimere.com & http://www.pueblomotorsportspark.com/

As far as shop there are a few in Denver. I personally go to MAC Autosport (www.MACAutosport.com) I hosted 2 dyno days at MAC with the Z32 & Z33 cars. Others will chime in with their choice. I'm not sure what is in Ft. Collins.

As far as a winter beater, they're out there. Just have to find the best buy for you.

We try to get together about once a month. Weather permitting of course. Keep an eye on the fourm (SW) for most of our meets.

Anyhow welcome to Colorado. Wait till the Spring time and come out to our meets and you'll have a great time in the Mountains!!!

-Robert

Welcome Kendan- Having lived in both Denver and Ft. Collins, you might check to see if the CSU SportsCar club is still active. They used to offer Solo II (autocross) events at some of the Moby Gym parking lots. Otherwise, SCCA has these events down in Denver and CO Spgs (Robert K has provided the link). I don't know of any tuning shops in Ft. Fun, but the per capita income is so much higher there, I'd suggest checking the Front Range for the best price on a winter beater. Finally, if you check these boards we usually have a variety of events publicized, from mountain drives to track days to garage get-togethers. Kinda quiet right now, because under the snow, nobody can hear you SCREAM!

Welcome to Colorado! As for your questions, I don't have anything to add beyond what Robert and David have already said.

Looking forward to meeting you at an event sometime; given your background with NayKid, you can probably teach us a thing or two at a garage tech or track session! Dkmura and I were at Topeka last fall to see Cindi's ALMOST win in T1...that was a close one.

I just have to throw in a plug for MAC Autosport, they are really good. Bill, the owner is a great guy and really easy to work with. They did the JWT TT install on my G, and are now an authorized JWT dealer/installer, so if you are looking for F/I, they are the place to go. They have done other F/I kits as well.

Welcome! Good to have you here. TC's Performance is another great shop. They did a Greddy TT setup on local member Juztin's Z.
