Default Get well soon, dkmura!

Our own David Muramoto (dkmura on the board) underwent reconstructive ACL surgery today following a skiing injury that he suffered during the winter, and will be facing an intense recovery & rehabilition period following the procedure. Here's hoping he sees a quick return to action!

I personally think that this wasn't actually an ACL reconstruction, as he's stated, but was rather the first step in getting his joints replaced with bionic/cybernetic enhancements in an effort to make him an even FASTER racer than he already is, since we all know that he's already reached the limit of what a human is capable of in a racecar.

Come to think of it, it sure seems that David gets injured a lot when he's outside of a racecar, and most of those injuries seem to come from skiing-related events. I'm thinking he needs to spend more time in a racecar, where it's safe!!!

Thanks for all the good wishes, guys! It's great to see a thread like this on a day after surgery. As you can guess, it's no fun even with the heavy-duty pain meds! Although I did get to race two weeks ago (without an ACL), it's going to be another hard road to get those wheels rolling straight again.

I can only wish that, as GaryM05 suggested, this were a ploy to give me cybernetic implants. But the truth is that I'd be glad to have my old knee and function back! Even with all this great medical technology (which has improved a procedure like ACL surgery so much better than even ten years ago), they can't ever quite fix you perfectly, like a machine.

But I'm determined to get everything back and this summer my project (besides the ITA and GT3 race cars) appears to be ME. Lots of sweat and work in PT (Physical Torture), before I can carve up those hills (oh yeah, you KNOW I'm not giving that up), play tennis, or drive around racetracks!

And I gave some thought to Gary's last statement and you know what? He's right! In '04 I was a passenger in a car (coming back from skiing) that rolled 4X. Where the hell was my HANS device and race helmet for that one!?I've had separated shoulders and now this injury from skiing. Yeah, I've had busted knuckles and a few small injuries from working on race cars, so it probably is "safer". Now if I could only come up with a way to better afford all the laps in racecars that I'd like.

Again, thanks for all the get well wishes here. As a longtime Nissan racer, I've found the 350Z group to be a very good group of folks. I'm glad to have been able to 'pay it back' in some small way and it's even more of a pleasure when I see Z pilots improve their skills, or make their racing dreams come alive.

David,
I feel for you even though I have no idea what you're going through. Give a call if you need anything and power through the PT as best you can.

Sincerely,

Joel & Glenda

Get well soon. Let me know if you need me to drive your car or the GT3 car. It's ok, I don't mind. really.

I'm sure we'll see you kicking but and taking names at the track soon enough. Hopefully in the fall for PMI, if not sooner.

Will,

I'm surprised that you haven't engineered a Rube Goldberg contraption to help David get through his physical therapy quicker. All of us at Garduno's saw what you are capable of making out of straws and dinner utensils. Maybe he will lend you the GT3 car for the PMI track day.

David,

I know that PT can be a bear, I'm stilling going through PT for an accident that happened almost a year ago. I wish you speedy recovery and hope to see you out on the track again this season.

Speedy recovery David. I know how hard PT for a knee can be. Watched my son go thru it. Lucky he only strained his knee. He was growing so fast the muscles couldn't keep up. He came out the better for it. He works out all the time & is much stronger. Good luck.

Come to think of it, maybe a few days driving jmark's NISMO Z might really help me recover faster. LOL

Actually, a few days in the NISMO Z might just make me FASTER, period!

Did you get to lap one for Nissan Sport? If so, was it a noticeable change in chassis stiffness and response?
