Sold.(brought the Nismo catback exhaust and the Bose radio setup) Thanks David. I stopped by after work to do a quick look and buy, didn't realized that 2hrs later we were still talking cars!

I know what you mean now david about the radio's black vs. light gray in our 03 model. It would be nice to have it match but I'm willing to over look it for superior performance.

I'm planning to take out my old radio this Thursday. I don't preceive any problems with interchanging the unit, however, it's my first time so I got to take it slow and easy.

Thanks again and I'll see Friday.

PS, I gave a positive feed back for your iTrader rating.

Phu-

You're always a great guy to talk to. Thanks for the biz and I'm sure you'll enjoy the Nismo exhaust and Bose system when I get them out of the car.

thanks Warren. Yeah, I have Denver, CA because I spend a lot of time out in Salinas as well. BTW, I'll be out there for Thanksgiving, we should hook up and I'll show you the Hennessey 300c SRT8.

Great job picking up the exhaust Phu! You'll love it.

But that '06 Bose will not fit in your '03 unless you swapped the entire center dash trim from the donor car with yours. I hope you did!

No I didn't get the entire center dash and I don't know if David is even willing to sell the center. I'm suprise that it won't fit.

Yes, the interior was redesigned for the '06 year, hence the stereo was as well so unfortunately, it won't fit without the entire center piece. Sorry to put a damper on this, man.

Phu- no worries. If it doesn't fit, just return the head unit and I'll happily refund your $75! On the other hand, I just looked at the center dash piece and it looks remarkably similar to my '03 dash. I believe Bottom tried the swap and made it work!

Im pretty sure it does work, looked at the swap myself, i have the 05 now which i know isnt an 06 and the color was the only change (btw Phu, you can swap out the faceplates, so when you get the new stereo you can take the time to get your old faceplate off) I think the cover hole postions are still the same, if they arent, sorry. I know my faceplate got swapped to match the same color. Let us know on that 06 convert if it fits or not.

Just take your time and you will be fine. But there is an @SS load of screws holding that headunit and other crap in there. I somehow managed to have some extras when I replaced my system......

I have a bin of extra nuts, bolts, and screws (and some parts!!!) from all the things I have done to my car. I do my best to replace them when I put everything back together, but somehow, I always seem to have some extras.

Phu, I actually don't think the Bose unit will work out with non Bose units (I think you have the normal head unit). It may physically fit, but that maybe the easy part. I'm not 100% sure, but I think there's an issue because the Bose system uses amplified speakers. It may work, but I think the sound will be weird and I also don't think it's a Plug and Play kind of swap. You may need a converter to make it work okay and by that time it may be easier to go with an Aftermarket head unit. Or did you get everything, head unit, speakers, amps, etc.?

I did change out my '03 Bose with a '04 Bose and swapped the faceplates. Spivey has it in his car now. It's relatively easy to do and then it looks stock.

Give me a call if you need some help with the install on the Bose or the Exhaust. I’d be happy to help.
David

Thanks David, and those who chimmed in. I do have the normal head unit. I do have aftermarket speakers and the purchase from David M. also includes the speaker and the amp. I couldn't resist the deal at $75.00.

I plan on opening up my unit just to look at it and see if it even fits first. I don't plan on forcing anything in or cutting corners.

David, check your PM.

Switching HUs between 03-05 (any year) isn't nearly the same as putting an 06+ HU into the 03-05 cars. The dash trim itself is different due to the relocated hazard switch and the HU styles are too different to simply switch out the face plates. There have been many threads on that in the A/V subforum. It isn't that is cannot be done; but not without major refabrication or at least using the 06 dash trim.

Phu- the center section is fairly complex and includes the triple gauges that mount on top of the IP. You'd also need the bottom of the waterfall with the different *****, etc. It'd be expensive and I don't know if you want the hassle!

Bottom: How do you remove the face plate for the stereo? I PM you my number yesterday.

NVM. I found this link...

http://liljerk.morpheus.net/350Z/dash_removal/

I saw those four screws back there but it didn't look it was hold the outer center piece in place.
