Default Tinted license plate cover, cost ya 3 points.

I got pulled over 2 weeks ago on 6th Av and kippling, Lakewood. The cop said that my rear tinted plate cover is illegal, and if I was in city limits it's a 3 point violation and a $50 fine!! WOW!
The cop was cool and only sighted me $10 because I was outside city limits.
Look out if you have a plate cover, tinted colored or clear.

I think it was like the 12th....I could go fight it but it comes down to a cops word against mine. I was 5 mile under the speed limit (traffic heavy thank God!) and I watched the light all the way through the intersection (who doesn't when running a yellow?!) I never saw any red. sux!
Fight the power! Where's Phu?! I feel like putting a verbal beat down on him!!!

wow 3 points is freaking harsh for a tinted license plate, considering the limit before losing your lic is 12 points.

I don't know what the "rules are" but He said what's the rush, I said no rush and that I saw the light through the whole intersection and never saw red (again going under the speed limit on a VERY WIDE intersection, Colfax and Speer) Again my words against his....

I got the same exact thing.

The cop even pulled me out of the car and did sobriety tests haha.

Luckily, I was ON MY WAY to the party and not BACK =)

Even though I wouldnt have been driving.

I'm going to have to look into that. I know that it is illegal for ANY type of cover, including plate frames, but I think it's a 0 pts violation, and it doesn't matter about city limit because traffic violations are State regulations and most municipalalities just copy that of the state.

PS: I've never had problems with Lakewood cops, but they don't like to be called "cops". They want you to call them "agents".
