YOU should be used the air quality, seeing as how the poor air quality is from the Los Angeles basin by way of the eastward winds. The laws can't be any tougher that the California emissions laws.

I can get a turbo with no cats to pass. Just gotta know what you are doing. There is no visual inspection. They just run codes and check gas cap.

Certain counties have smog testing. In the ones where they do have smog testing (Maricopa county for example) this is all that is done on newer vehicles like the Z.

in arizona in areas that are considered non atteinment areas such as phoenix and tucson (metro areas) cars need to meet emmissions standards, cars that are 5 years old all the way down to 1967 must be tested;current year 2008,all cars 2003 and older;your car will not need to be tested untill 2010 (2005+5) ,and even when newer cars are tested, they only do a test of the cars systems ,they plug in to your car and scan for codes, check engine light on dont even show up get it turned off then it will pass(should) ;i think 1998 and older get the acctual pipe test done

...and just wanted to mention that your post was supremely unhelpful and stupid.

Hi Schism-

My question might pertain more to Nevada reg and protocol unless they are the same as AZ smog regulations and protocol.

My car is turbo'd now but in a few years, I wish to do a build and I am weighing different options.

I was under the impression that states not as strict as Cali just did tail pipe sniffer tests but it appears that youo guys all have to do OBDII hook-ups?

I'm concerned becaue I am throwing codes as I am thinking about having a friend in NV help me by registering the car out of state.

Are you modded?

When I smogged had my 03 coming from KS to AZ, all they did was hook up to the computer or OBDII I think, then did a gas cap ck too and I was good to go. No sniffer test either.

I wasn't modded though. I think as long as you're not throwing codes they will pass you.
