On a serious note, Joel, that was a real offer to install a spacer on your Z at the track in May; I figure maybe if I am working on someone elses car, it will appease the mechanical gods, and nothing will go wrong with my car
Heck, if you bring some sways, we could install those, as well. Probably not the LSD though, that might be a bit much for trackside work.

I'm thinking with class being out end of next week, I'll show up to PMI. If David M. is there I'd like to give a hand sorting out the T2 car if he'll let me, and I'll bring my pyrometer. Joel, if you want to have some sways and the Mrev installed there, I'd be happy to give you and Dave a hand with that.

Joel – make sure to really check the classing rules on the diff. The TT mod points for last year considered the OEM diff in the Z as being a non-points mod, and was considered as being present in the Z’s base classing. So, putting something fancy like the Quaiffe unit in your car MIGHT not cost as many points as it would if you were putting it in another car. And if it came down to a fancy diff putting you over the top for mod points with everything else you want to do, vs. going with the OEM unit for zero points and staying down a class, it might be something to consider.
If you do a search in the TT forum on nasaforums.com, you’ll find a short discussion I had with the national TT director about this topic, sometime early last year.

From what I recall, the reason that the OEM diff on the Z was a non-points mod (whereas other cars that have a model that adds the diff on have to take points for it), was that the TT National Director saw the Base model Z as an overly-stripped attempt by Nissan in order to offer a model at absolutely as low of a price as possible, and that owners of non-Base models shouldn’t be penalized for Nissan’s marketing strategy.
And my disclaimer: to be 100% clear, my interpretation of NASA’s mod points for the diff in the Z is based on last year’s rules, and it’s entirely possible that those rules have been changed for this year. Anyone looking to upgrade their diff for NASA TT should make absolutely certain for themselves how many points they'll take for it. If necessary, you can email NASA's TT National Director for clarification.
So, did somebody offer to help install my sways when they arrived?
Got the spacer installed yesterday - she sounds gruff and has noticeable gains! The final touch will be some new number plates that I designed. I saw a recommendation by GaryM05 to try out Sign Edge Racecar Graphics (www.signedge.com - Annie Bounvouloir). Annie did an excellent job at a reasonable price and I would highly recommend her as well!

We'll see what we can do with the sways. It's more time consuming than the spacer, though. Might have to do it in the late afternoon, after track time is done. It all depends.

Ah, problems- what would I do without 'em? The LSD never came in and remains in transit between Nashville and Denver. The approved T2 oil cooler kit came sans a few critical parts after we took the front bumper off the car for installation. This evolution is moving in the wrong direction!

Sorry guys- more problems. Besides the prep issues, I've been burning the midnight oil on work and developed a problem with my eyesight. Besides some intermittant blurring, my left eyelid is swollen. I may have developed a corneal abrasion or infection. I'm getting it checked this afternoon and will find out if I'm cleared to drive.
Dave, you know better than that. Admittedely, we do put ourselves at risk everytime we get on the track, but that is a controlled risk. Be safe, and take care of your health first!
Get a good nights sleep, don't worry about this race weekend (there will be others), and take care of yourself. Feel free to drive down and join us for a beer and food, or to talk shop, but don't kill yourself or your health just to get on track at pueblo, a track that will be there for a long time to come.

Well I've had some things come up that are going to prevent me from coming this weekend, too. I'm looking forward to the next NASA event in July -- and I'm sorry I won't get to see you guys this weekend.
Good luck with your eyes, David -- best wishes for a super-speedy recovery!

Oh, as a side note, I'll be carting down some fluids that I can't move. The gov't movers will not move anything fluid that might possibly be in any way, shape, or form, flammable.
So, I have the following unopened bottles:
1 of motul RBF600
1 of Redline Power Steering fluid
2 of Amsoil differential fluid.
Whoever needs them can have them
