Arrow Calling all Colorado Zs!

I have been running autocross this year and so far have only seen a couple of 350Zs. What's the deal?

Come one guys/gals!

Go here --> http://www.rmsolo.org/ and register for the next event!

If you didn't know already the Z is definitely competitive around the cones. Heck - I even got 1st in the street class last time (it was only my 2nd time racing).

If you do register and are unmodified I highly recommend going into the street tire class as in the B-stock class (where the 350Z resides) you will be up against people with racing tires and will get killed unless you have them too.

I may do some autocross later in the summer, but I'm focusing on HPDE right now. There's a NASA weekend at Pueblo May 17th and 18th, if anybody is interested. It's an absolute blast!

There are only two 350Zs signed up right now for the May NASA event: myself and Joel, who just graduated to HPDE4 in March -- and looks to be working on instructor certification this time around!

What, my G35 doesn't count!?!?!?

Heh, anyways, as some have said, more G/Z's are interested in track racing rather than autocross, although autocross is fun too. Come out to the May 17/18 NASA event, and even if you can't get on the track because it's full, have some fun wih your fellow Z drivers.

I bought our helmets (my wife is also racing in her 2005 Subaru Legacy) at RPM Mortorsports. They are just south of Colfax on Wadsworth (on the west side). Ours were $70ish each (the cheapest ones available) and are the same as the loaners that are provided at the events.

I hope to see you at events soon! I was the only driver in a 350Z this last Sunday.

Oh yeah, I got first in the AT class AGAIN this past Sunday further proving how kicka$$ the Z is. I have now beaten several Porsches, BMWs, and Miatas. I even beat a Lotus Elise (in raw time, not even taking into consideration the index handicap the 350Z gets)... and I'm not a good driver!

Come on guys/gals! Come out and REPRESENT!

There are going to be two events in Colorado Springs over Memorial Day weekend. I encourage you all to sign up!

Well sounds like I will see you when I come to the memorial day weekend event! I'll be running in AT as well with my 2005 s4 so we'll see if I can get some beginner's luck and end your winning streak!(haha just kidding i'll be happy to not get last)

Do you know how to tell if a helmet qualifies or not? I have several different ATV/Motorcycle helmets(actually from RPM motorsport as well) that I'm hoping will work.

As long as the helmets are Snell approved you're good to go. They need to either be K, SA or M rated and be 95, 2000 or 2005.

I'm glad you're coming out! The more the merrier!

SCCA still lets you use 95 helmets? I'm suprised. For NASA, it has to be less than 10 years old, in other words, 2000, or 2005.

You need a helmet with a sticker that looks like this, or equivlent.

During this last weekend's Memorial Day double I won on Sunday and placed 3rd on Monday! I'm now first in my class for the season.

There were three 350Zs at each event - the most of any other day this season. Do you know how many Miatas show up for these things? THERE WERE 11 ON MONDAY ALONE!

Come on people! Represent!

There are no guarantees you'll win anything but I know you'll have a good time.

The next event is June 8th and I strongly urge you Coloradans to sign up and show up!

Hi Gary, Long time no see.
Don't think it's the racing bug, more like trying to find out how good the Z actually is. Since I bought it in 04, I have never had a chance to drive it at its limit, safely, even at stock form. It feels good going thru the mountains, may be up to about 7/10. Wonder how it behaves at 9/10 or 10/10?

I can say that the 350Z still feels good at 9/10ths to 10/10ths on a variety of road racing circuits. Sticky tires and a long wheelbase make it hard to spin, although at the limit, it CAN be done!
