Sunday Update: The long-range forcast is out and next week looks very promising. After a chance of snow today, the only other possibility is a slight one on Wednesday. Otherwise, Valentine's Day looks to be sunny and warm, with Sunday the 15th scheduled to be dry and in the mid-40's!
That is just what the doctor ordered to clear the track and make for a nice drive down and back. I'll be posting again later in the week, probably Thursday or Friday, on our event. Hope to see everybody a week from today!

Top notch!! I have Sunday off, anyone know where I can pick up a helmet in the Springs? If I can't get one, no worries, I'll still come with the misses to enjoy the show and good times. Can't wait!
i know that... just having a little premature frustration... really want to get out on the course and let the hammer drop!!!
I just got a 4 pt speeding ticket, and this is the best way to let out the urge to let it fly, dont' you agree?!!!

Brian's right; once summer rolls around and the Z-car club starts their summer track schedule, you'll be getting plenty of track time.
4 pts? Ouch. Like you said, the track is the place to let out that frustration in a MUCH safer environment than a public highway filled with SUV's, cops, bad drivers, and other hazards.

Yeah Don, slow pokes like me and my Sentra can't get out of was fast enough.
Just kidding. I had a guy in a 300Ztt fly by me the other day on C-470, heading west. I put the hammer down, but then I remembered what I was driving.
I think it would be safer for you if we trade cars. Yeah, that would be better. It would solve the speeding ticket situation for you, as you wouldn't get any more!
Yep, that's the solution. Tough love, that's what I say. We can trade on, say...........Wednesday? Just in time for the women folk to see me in 'er.

Funny thing about the ticket, it was 6 points to begin with. I got laser'd doing 77 in a 40 on New Year's Eve...
"What seems to be the problem officer?"
So my lawyer and I go to court this past Monday.... MONDAY!! Get a lady procecutor and a lady judge. Both are probably on the rag and both probably had crappy weekends... cramps, and stuff! I have a clean record... spotless... no tickets, no accidents... nothing. Best deal my lawyer can get out of this lady is 2 pts off... and, she won't even let me take the drivers' course to lower them anymore. She says that since I was only 3 mph from getting a 12pt suspension, that this was all she would do... she actually said she felt the officer probably gave me a break already... meaning that I was over 80 and he only wrote it for 77! What a creature!!! I wanted to jump over there and strangle her!!!
Sorry... I'm all better now... must be coming down with a little touch of 'Cabin Fever'... with all this snow and all... Make it stop! PLEASE!!!!
So.. what's the verdict? David, have you checked with the track folks lately? Are they expecting us this Sunday, or snow? It's probably too soon to know for sure, but the latest forcasts say Saturday will be 45 and sunny, and Sunday 47 can mostly cloudy. What say you?

Just got off the phone with the LaJunta track manager and the news is that the last snow storm swept over them as well. He also said it's been cold enough that the track remains icy in spots and is not ready for prime-time.
And that's the bottom line, isn't it? I feel a great responsibility to ensure everybody has a great time at the track and safe travel back and forth. Last year (February 16th, to be exact) we had an excellent day down at PMI with the first all-350Z track day in the country. This year we ran into some weather-related problems, but I'm still determined to get us down to LaJunta as soon as the weather gets better. Rather than reserve another date, I'm going to watch and wait. This 'snow every few days' pattern will end at some point. Plan on a trip to LaJunta as SOON as it does!
The good news is that, with this delay, the days will get longer and we'll have more daylight to play with. The trip south should be a pleasure- not like driving through a snowstorm over Monument Hill!
So never fear, my hardy Z bros and BSpeed members! This event will happen and sooner rather than later. Please post here with any questions/concerns/suggestions about the LaJunta trip...

Wouldn't you know it...we have no problems at all last year with any of our track days, and the first 2 dates we schedule in '04 get snowed out.
But the track will always be there, and nothing ruins a good track day better than a wrecked Z (or Sentra, for that matter) that ran afoul of the weather. Unlike SCR, it's not like there's a construction boom going on in La Junta that's going to force the track to close down. Whenever the weather cooperates, I'm confident that this event will be worth the scheduling hassle that David has gone through to set it up for us.
For those that went on our drive to Steamboat last summer and have the video that Jim from Arizona shot, I suggest firing that up and watching a few minutes as a reminder of what we have to look forward to when the warm season kicks in (which isn't very far off.) We're going to have to meet soon to plan this summer's Z activity schedule.

I want to thank david for all his efforts in putting these track days together. All I can say is I can’t wait for summer! The Z is really bored freezing it’s butt off in the garage.
Thanks David, I've spread the word, and everyone is agreeing that safety is paramount. But, we'll explode when the next one comes around.......
Definately have a mob at the track when we go.

Saturday, February 21st is ON!
After looking at two different forcasts and consulting with the LaJunta track mgr. today, things are looking up. First, this week is forcast to be warmer, with temps in the 40s and 50s. While there is a chance of rain on Thursday, the temps may not drop low enough to bring snow and ice.
The track is starting to thaw out and the track manager agreed that next week will give the ice and snow a chance to dry out. While the city sweepers have been busy in town, he will try to get one out to the track.
So, does next Saturday work for everybody? I'll post more later in the week and, if nothing else, we'll start consulting with the ski industry. After all, they might PAY us some big bucks to BRING SNOW by scheduling these track days!
