Smile My Tranny is finally grinding!!

Ive taken my car into a couple different dealerships over the past few months for excessive tranny noise, and they all asked if it was grinding between gears. The answer was no untill a couple weeks ago when it ground going into third just once. The good news is that today it ground three times going into third. Does anyone know a good dealership in Orange County for tranny replacements?? Before everyone jumps up and says "take it to Performance," let me just say that I am one of the few who jas NOT had a good experience there.

Thanks

Mine has grinded a couple of times the last few weeks. Both times I came out of first, coasted for a few seconds and tried to go back to third... I guess you aren't supposed to do that...

Sorry... but all of my warranty works (including tranny) have been done at Performance. And I haven't had any trouble w/ them so I don't know where else to recommend. I heard Mossy is pretty good with modded cars as well. You may want to try them.

Thanks Ed, I was actually thinking about them. After I had some service done there a few months back, they sent me 3 letters thanking me for my business! I wonder how many tranny replacements theyve done though.

Oh, I forgot to ask you guys about the part #s. I had seen a thread a while back where Jeff@performance had posted part #s for the latest greatest tranny/clutch replacement. I cant seem to find that thread but the dealer says that they are ordering the tranny with the "008" number. Is this the right one??

They just keep pissing me off over and over. I won't take my car there but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. I hear that they won't even honor someone's prepaid oil changes either because they can't handle the job without damaging his front lip.

1. Bought my car from them and they never processed the paperwork. Even after 2 months the car still didn't show up as being sold in Nissan's database.

2. Tranny starts grinding and locking me out of gears. RSM Nissan says it's normal for a sports car and JD says that I'm causing the grinds on purpose. I take it to Perf Nissan and they concur with the grinding and agree to replace the tranny, but can't get approval from Nissan because RSM never "sold" me the damn car. After wasting lots of time, Nissan approves the warranty work.

3. Front tires wear off due to feathering so RSM Nissan agrees to replace the front tires and align the car. I drop it off and pick it up late that night to find out the alignment wasn't done. I call back the next day and the service writter says there's nothign wrong with my alignment...but they didn't check it. I go rounds with the manager and he says bring it back in for the alignment.

4. During the alignment/replacing the front tires, they manage to knock paint off on both front wheels in multiple spots. Now i'm really pissed because Track model wheels aren't cheap. 2 months later after contacting the manager 4 times, the jacked up wheel gets "repaired". Repaired is in quotes because it looks like **** and you can see the brush strokes on the wheel.

5. Bastards charge me $15.09 for two oil filters. I get home and realize they are normally ~$5.50 each.

Oh well I am aware of the problems there with other members but since JD is gone then I dont know if they would work with Brian. It's your call Brian but I would feel bad if they damaged your car. I worked as a salesmen with JD and he was really cool. I use to drive from South Gate to RSM for service since he always took care of me....Don't know Brian it your call brother ....

They are already rerplacing my tranny and clutch.....and honestly, it was a pretty painless experience. I just walked in and said "my tranny is finally grinding bad enough that Nissan WILL approve one for me. I just want to make sure that your shop is experienced in doing this before I leave it with you." They drove it the next morning, got on the phone with corporate and there you have it. So far Im a happy camper.
