Talking I got my new tranny!!

Picked up my Z from the dealership on Sat with a brand new tranny and clutch in it. It is SO much better than the old one and I have been babying it the rest of the weekend (rev matching and heel toeing). The interesting thing though is the drivetrain lashing noises that Ive heard on just about every 6mt Z. It still does this even though it obviously is a new tranny and clutch setup which leads me to believe that the annoying sound that many of us are familliar with is actually our dual mass flywheel. I wonder if the tilton or JWT setup is any quieter, does anybody have those who can comment on it??

I've heard that the Nismo setup works well with little or no sound but this is hear-say

I don't know if my 04.5 Track has a newer tranny, but I do know if feels MUCH better than my G35c one, which has been well broken into.

I got the work done at Santa Margarita Nissan.....and the clutch pate..hmmm, I dont know. Its my understanding that the "upgraded" tranny needs to have the clutch replaced too, and the clutch/pedal is a lot stiffer than the old one. Maybe thats a question I should ask the tech and not just the service advisor.

There are a few guys on this forum who dont like Santa Margarita for various reasons. Personally, I had a very good experience there so I would recommend them. As far as the tranny replacement, I had been to several dealerships when it was clattering around, but they will only replace the tranny if it is "grinding." Trust me, when it starts to grind upshifting into third, you will know. When that happens, you should have no problem getting it replaced at Santa Margarita. One word of advise though, dont burn your bridges before the grind occurs.

I only sent you to RSM because of a friend who works there. I know if you told him I sent you then he would take care of you regardless. So I am glad to know it worked out for you Brian..
