anyone else with a stock ride

I'm looking into nice mods that will make the car run cooler, but than again I wouldn't be stock any more (the drama of being stock).

I use Shell 91, but I might try Mobil or Chevron on the next dyno days.
I had 2 dyno operators tell me my car was pinging, I had my Z dynoed after comming off the freeway. When I had my car cooled down for 3 hours and warmed the Z up to normal operating temperatures, the pining stopped on the last dyno day.
I'm pondering in taking in the Z to the dealership to have the fuel trim levels adjusted to reduce the pinging (happens my Z is running hot), but I figured my Z will take a hit on peformance. In addition, its most likely I will get the answer from a tech saying its normal or can't "reproduce" the problem.
Check your coolant and thermostats. If your cooling system isn't flowing well and removing heat than that can cause it to form hotspots and overheating then knocking.
Don't drive it hard BTW. Knocking and pinging is like a sledge hammer to your rods and can take a chunk of your piston.
I heard about an additive in Shell that's not good. I stick with 76, Chevron, and Mobil usually.

The only change from the factory is the oil - switched to Mobil 1 5w30.
Then again, I bought the Z with the intention of leaving it stock for a long while; at least performance-wise. I might be doing to aesthetics soon.
What are you interested in would be a more pertinent question. Looks vs. speed (performance).

Except I use Mobile 1 synthetic oil to keep the motor purring for years to come. I may do a little something in the suspension for a smoother ride. My only aesthetic thus far is a sunroof installed yesterday by ASC San Diego. Excellent service, quailty and job well done. VERY happy with it.
Don't ever want to lower the car all that does is scrape up the body (I painted my first bumper twice and am on my second bumper now). Looking into a fiberglass hood so I can have matching paint (unlike CF), side skirts, mod rear bumper and maybe a different front bumper IF it doesn't sit much lower in front. ETA May~
Just had the 30k service check up this weekend.
Love my car~

I took my car into the dyno in the afternoon while it was running hot. I filled in some race gas to mix the 91 -> 93, I still have pinging problems. During the evening runs, my car stoped pining since it was cooler. There were 2 other 2 stock SRT-4's at the dyno that had the same problem as I did.
I'll see what the dealer can do to change the fuel trim levels. I was told another way to relieve the pining problem is to run colder spark plugs and widen the gap slightly.

stock, but i just bought the S2000 short antenna!! Haha.. now I have a modified Z. YEAH!!! naw, I just ordered a grounding kit and Nismo CAI, so thats my start. Hopefully i'll be able to put on a Viper two-way alarm & a clear bra within a month or so. The nismo exhaust will probably have to wait another six months or so.
just added my first mod....AEM polished CAI.....installation was ok....only hear a difference at high rev....and u can only feel a bit difference....maybe a few HP at the wheels
next up....new upper plenum, headers, high flow cat, catback exhaust

preformance wise my car is stock. next mods wheels, then some day i will put turbos on it, then after that i will go with new clutch nismo pipes (sound so good) and then jsut little preformance stuff.
I'm stock too except for 20% bronze tint on all windows. Just bought my 05 35th anniversary edition and its sweet!!...got nav too. Don't need any mods....maybe a cold air intake, but that's about it. Don't wanna ruin the rare car since they only made 2000 of these. Now, my 99 Maxima....that's a different story....I did all types of mods on that baby and it is still a fun car to drive!!!
