favorite canyon drives...
I have been reading on the canyon run posts about taking PCH... Is it just me or is this an extremely mild walk in the park?
If you are doing a run in lieu of a cruise I would have thought something like Palomar Mtn or Angeles Crest...
Just curious but if you are all going to hit the real twisties let me know as I want in on that

I'm still a noob at taking the car to it's limits. I get a kick out of hitting the 110 in Pasadena lol.
I'm down for Angelas Crest. Let's make sure the roads are nicely repaired before we go up there.

Canyon runs... Hmmmm
Angeles Crest Highway
Rim of the World Highway (18 to big bear)
Malibu Canyon
Ortega Highway
and...
Some of the back roads by Julian (san diego) - Particularly Engineers Road!
This last run has a mix of everything. From high speed open areas to tire squeeling, brake frying, tight corners.

. Then we head back to Temecula via the front side of Palomar. It's usually pretty fun. We've also gone up 79 to Idyllwild and back, that is a fun drive too (right Jim). We were supposed to go on this run last saturday the 9th, but I found I had a flat tire right at the last minute and we all decided to cancel and reschedule the run. Any way, that's my story.Later,
Ray

my absolute favorite is telegraph canyon in SD. a nice blend of high speed sweepers, and very tight twisties. i have also been there over 100 times, so i kind of have it memorized.

Where's this telegraph canyon?
I know I know...shame on me, I've lived here almost all my life and don't know what you guys are talking about.
Well Folks,
it looks like we will have to take the ortega of the list for a while. Cal Trans has decided to close the freeway for about 2 years starting in 2006. you can read more about it at,
www.saveortegahwy.org
This site also has links to the Cal Trans site that show the closure plan.
