Default Buttonwillow kills 350Zs

An obviously modified 350Z, lowered, carbon fibre hood, and lots of other goodies lost it at Buttonwillow Raceway last Friday 4/15 and lost its front bumper in the dirt after the "Magic Mountain" hill. It had to be pulled out by a truck while the rest of us waited to get back on track.

On 3/11, a 350Z roadster did the near impossible at Buttonwillow, and hit the new tire wall WAY outside the Buttonhook turn, suffering substantial damage to one side of the car.

Good friend Sosa had the foolish impusle to drive his Z at Buttonwillow with virtually no brakes, and of course he went off at the end of the west loop straight and had to be pulled out of the mud. (foolish teenager)

I, my own self, had a nasty encounter with the tire wall at the Sunset turn in my now deceased Track. My advice -- don't drive a 350Z at Buttonwillow. It's a Zeater.

Hey Richard,

It was me. I already posted a thread on it on both forums, however I was not towed out. I drove it back by myself after I got out of the dirt. I just wanted to make sure that everyone was off track prior to me driving back. The car is in great working order and already has a new Cwest bumper thanks to K's Factory

The Z is a great track car and I blame myself for pushing too hard on that blind corner. I got too ballsy and paid the price for it. Take your Z out and race

All in all, it was all worth it since I was able to pass that decked out NSX What lap times were you able to pull? My final session yielded a 2:16.134 By looking at the posted times of everyone, I think that is pretty good for my 2nd time out at a track ever on a course that was more friendly to the S2k's

I can't wait to go out to Buttonwillow. It can't be nearly as bad as Infineon in terms of eating up cars. Every time I go to Infineon for HPDE, I see no less than 3 cars completely totalled.

lol

I was looking at the different group times

Advanced = Red
Advanced/Intermediate = Blue
Intermediate = White
Beginner = Yellow

...and I could have run with Blue or the slow cars of red My 2nd time out ever, so I think that is pretty good

Z or not, Buttonwillow or elsewhere ... one can trash their car just as easily. Look no further than the street/fwy.

Having said that ... lets not discourage people who are new and unknowledgeable in the sport. It doesn't take one to drive like Mario Andretti to enjoy 99% of the thrill and learning experience. That last 1% is a gamble not everyone needs to take. If you can afford it ... by all means do it!

Exactly! It all comes down to driver error, which causes accidents. I pushed my car too the edge and paid the price. We need more Z's out there

Bah! I will not make it to this one. Too many requests for days off. I will more than likely go to the Cal Speedway event with speedventures.net at the end of May

Darn you ... Dog!

We were deciding between Buttonwillow or Cali Speedway ... but decided Buttonwillow was much easier on people's wallet at (1 Cali = 2 Buttonwillow). However, I love the full Roval layout at Calispeedway.

Lap times are up I wish we had a class for 350z's, but no one ever goes out!

Egbert,

I am assuming that you are still running under Richard 350z? Nice times

Time looks good Dog.

I feel the same way about wanting to see a 350Z/G35 class, which Speed Venture's more than happy to host. They just need a little more interest from fellow Z/G owners. There's no committment to attend all the track events ... just enough to make it worth while for them to keep tally of the points. As an alternative, perhaps we could start our little web-site for the scoring and ranking ... borrowing the official times from Speed Ventures.

As is, I think we may have just enough people to get it rolling. I believe once the others see the class in 'action' ... they are more likely to join!
