Why is it that we ALWAYS meet there anyway??

Brian (has met there for canyon runs twice already, once with Zs and once with Gs)

I pick it because it's a place where we can park, get coffee and relieve ourselves before a run. It's also close to freeway exit/on ramps and to Santa Monica Mountain Canyon run locations. Open to any alternative meet locations for future runs.

We've had 35+ Zs there before and there should be adequate parking because Ralphs and Vons are right next door.

Reminder, feel free to bring lawn chairs, umbrellas, picnic baskets, towels, ice chests, blankets etc. The beach is very nice. And, I believe you can bring your pooch too if you want.

Hey guys, count me in on this....

BTW, the parking lot there is fine if you stay towards ventura blvd... right next to starbacks - no space usually, but it should be big enough!

P.S. almost forgot, 612 or 6/19 works for me.

That area seems a little congested though. I know it's off the freeway but if it's gonna be difficult with the number of people we have on the list. Can't we meet at the mall on Oxnard/Owensmouth? I figure plenty of parking and the mall won't be open yet when we are all there. Not that far from the freeway, just take Canoga Exit. Just my suggestion but I don't live in that area so I'll go with whatever the plan is...

But does it have a bathroom? Having a pee-spot early in the morning, before a run, is very important.

- Iris (has a small bladder; and had to pee in the bushes in the middle of an Angeles Crest run)

If anything, we should move the location further west to accomodate those people who live west of Woodland Hills. Remember Audio Pat and others are coming from the west only to have to go back east. So, going further east when we're heading west doesn't seem right.

Absent good cause to the contrary, we're going to keep the meet location.

Relax, I've made the call on this. The meet location isn't changing. Maybe for future runs but especially to avoid confusion, and because it remains a good spot, we're keeping it for this run.

Not trying to change anything. Like I said, I don't live around that area but from when I worked out there I just thought that the place I suggested would be a good spot. Sorry HFM, not trying to change anything. I just remember reading something about people getting lost from the starting point on the Canyon Run because of traffic congestion around that area. Your show, I will follow.

+1.....my only point was that the "locals" to the meeting spot maybe sometimes should consider that we have people coming from all over and shouldnt just choose to meet at a place that is convienient for them. On this run, for instance, we have guys coming from LA, OC, the inland empire, and maybe even from as far south as san diego if any of them want to join too. Just my $.02

Guys, people coming from LA, OC, Inland Empire, San Diego are all coming from south, east or north of Woodland Hills. We're heading west. It makes sense for everyone to head west because we're heading west. It's worst for people who are coming from the west that have to travel to an easterly meet spot only to have to go back west from where they came from originally.

If this were an Angeles Crest run, it would make sense to meet further east. Because this is a Santa Barbara run, it makes sense for us to meet in a westerly spot. It makes no sense for someone like Audio Pat coming from Simi Valley to go even further east only to have to go west. I hope I'm being clear why this is a good spot.

Meet locations can be voted along with available dates for future runs. The meet spot is not changing for this run.

One thought comes to mind. If there is a spot on PCH that someone likes, that works well too. However, I think it will be hard to find such a spot.

edit: this is in regards to using the inland empire as an example

Sho, Dan, Iris, Audio Pat, Ihatethatbobbarker, and other friends,
Just found out that my wife has booked a Hawaii vacation for my family, leaving on June 24th. Sorry that I will miss this chance to see you again. I will see you all at another occasion. Have fun on the cruise.

Ha
