Default Run the Big Track at Willow Springs Oct. 25

Take a day off in the middle of the week and run your 350Z on the "fastest road in the west" -- the big track at Willow Springs Int'l Raceway with American Car Racing Assn. (alter-ego of Open Track Racing). I am not an organizer, I'm just a driver, but I have run with this group before and it is very laid back with plenty of seat time.

It's very reasonable at $145 for the day, or $150 if you pay by PayPal. Go to www.americancarracing.com to sign up. Tell Johnny that Richard EVO sent you (no, I don't get a commission). Hope to see you there.

Is it open practice? or does someone sit with you in the car?

they divide you by experience, then your first lap you follow a instructor around, then its all you.

Three run groups, Advanced, Intermediate, and Beginner. Advanced and Intermediate are on your own all day, unless you ask for instruction. Beginners take a short class while the Advanced guys take their first run session. Then the Beginners go out with an instructor the first run session, and can go on their own the rest of the day. You will get at least 2 1/2 hours track time -- 5 half-hour sessions. Hope to see some 350Zs out there.

If you have never run Big Willow, it is a great high-speed track. You should be able to hit at least 130 mph on the 1/2 mile front straight if you get a quick exit out of the infamous Turn 9. Turn 8 is a long, full throttle sweeper. It's a blast.

Here's a track map:

RT Racing --

Your list of mods is very impressive. I had an '03 Track model that was heavily modded, but no TT, it was all N/A. You should be able to run very fast lap times in your Z, once you spend a little time learning the track.

It is a whole different experience than Streets of Willow. Speeds are much higher. There is a real WOOOHOOO factor on the Big Track. I'm going how fast!?!

I'm in Redondo Beach, which is in the southwest L.A. county. When going to Willow Springs, I usually get up really early in the morning and just drive up the day of the event. I used to drive up the night before and stay at a motel, but I'd rather save the $$$ to spend it on 100 octane fuel, tires, brake pads, etc.

I am not 100% sure I'm going to this event, but probably will. I will PM you once I know my plans better. But don't wait for me. Go for it.

Here I am leading an STi and a CTS-V down the "Corkscrew" at Laguna Seca a few weeks ago.

And here's a thumbnail of my deceased 350Z:

bump

Sign-ups are really light and you should get tons of track time on the high-speed Big Track at Willow Springs. In a high-hp car like a 350Z, I'd stop wasting my time and money at Streets of Willow and have some real high speed fun. Taking the infamous decreasing radius Turn 9 fast and carrying good exit speed onto the front straight results in some truly fast terminal speeds as you brake for Turn 1.
