Is it a fix it ticket or a ticket to the ref do get your car inspected? If its just a fix it ticket, do you know anyone that is a law enforcement officer? If so, they can sign it off for you...

If you can get someone to sign off on it, it'll cost you $10. Otherwise, it'll cost you $10 plus whatever it costs to get it changed.
Earlier this year, I got tagged for a no-front-license-plate fix-it. I went to the County Courthouse after getting a front bracket. I wasn't sure where to go, so I asked the bailiff where to go to get it signed before I go pay the $10. He asked if I'd gotten it fixed. I said yeah, and he signed it right there without looking at the car. So you get lucky sometimes.

I'd suggest searching the vehicle code that he cited you for to see what it falls under. A cop told me that I needed to get my exhaust fixed and when I searched the code it was for "gross polluter"/

^ +1... Def look up the language for the CA Veh code # that he cited you for. You'd be surprised on the variation in citations. If it was for too loud, you can have your car tested for free first.
Approx 90% of the vehicles cited for noise pass the test.
Call the BAR 800/622-7733 to schedule your referree session. Make sure to have the citation and your Veh Registration ready when you make the call.
Cheers, ted
p.s. and dammit people, join the SEMA Action network so we can protect our God given right to build hot rods. I wonder if you would have gotten this ticket if you were riding a Harley?!

this is what i did.
chp gave me a 'fix it ticket'
scheduled appointment for state referee
they gave me a certificate of compliance (exhaust must be 95db or lower at 3K to 5K rpm)
went to chp to get ticket signed off
filled out a trial by declaration
mailed it out
found not guilty by mail...all chrages waived
this is easy. try it.

Well I thought maybe it would have been either SAPD or better yet LAPD.....I could have helped you in those cases. My brother is a Sgt. with the LAPD and I manage a impound yard for Santa Ana Police Dept.....damn wish I could help you
correct me if I'm wrong but that exhaust you have you got from Volcom girl?? She must have done some kind of black magic or something to it.....motion to ban her....
