Body Shop Recommendations for SoCal
Anyone have any recommendations for a REALLY good body shop in SoCal. I'm so pissed that I can't find anyone that does good work. I have have taken my cars in for several things in the past six months, and each time I have seriously had to take the car back at least 3 times EACH time I took it in. One of the times there was bondo showing through the paint!! So far I have tried 2 different body shops both of them were bad. It seems that it's not much to ask to have a quality job done the first time, but I'm really having a difficult time finding a shop that can do it. I'm desparate to find someone that I can trust with my car!!! Please offer any places that you KNOW do oustanding work. I live in LA and am willing to travel a bit if I can find a place that does good work. I have a body kit that I just ordered and want to find a place to install and paint them, any recomendations??? One of my buddies recommended marcos, anyone ever been there, here's there site: http://www.marcosautobody.com

I had high hopes for M1, but they were the shop that I actually had bondo showing through the paint. I took both of my cars there and had to take them both back twice. After repainting one of them twice, it still has burn marks in a couple of places. They really seem to want to help, but I don't think they have the experience. I was really disappointed with their work.

They currently have 3 350z' and one G35 as of today that they are working on. I'm sure they wont mind if you take a look at their work. One of the 350z' is my car. It's the one that's torn down to pieces as I'm getting a complete paint change.

To be completely honest, I'm very nervous to take my car back there. Each time I took it one thing was fixed, but something else would be wrong, and the work on the cars the second time was either done by, or supervised by the production manager. I have just lost my confidence, and I'm not even taking the RX8 back there for them to try to fix the spot that's messed up, just cuz I don't want something else messed up. My Z, while it looks WAY better than it did the first time they worked on it, still has places on the hood you can tell the clearcoat is way too thick, and the fiberglass hood that I bought from them still looks somewhat wavy.
So Jason you found no defects in your paint job whatsoever, it's so hard for me to believe since the simplest things on both my cars were overlooked and quality was absolutely horrible.

Try A1 autobody in huntington beach. If I didn't go to marcos, I would of gone there. Ask for wayne.
M1 is recommended by many on here, but when I was looking for a body shop, I heard some shady things about them on the bmw boards.

-M1 painted my front bumper perfectly (excellent color match)
-rear was not as good, but still satifactory, except a pinky nail size chunk of paint came off after a few days.
- Shine Street gave me the worst color match, ever.. about 2 shades lighter on my side skirt.
- mobworks did a great job on my wings. paint quality wasn't as smooth as M1, though

I did few of my old bimmers at A1. Wayne is a great guy and does fantastic job. They specialize in european cars mostly tho.
My 350z body work job was done at MPAB, Monterey Park Auto Body. Johnson treated me like I was a family member. It's family owned and you'll get to meet his dad, brother, etc. He does his best to accomodate you and fixed up my bodykit like no body else. My replica required major work and his dad worked on it until I was completely satisfied. Price extremely reasonable as well. Hooked me up on my Pioneer N2 w/ backup camera as well since his friend owns a stereo shop.
From my experience, if you live near Huntington, go A1, otherwise, try out MPAB. I've bad experience at M1, but my friends are happy with their M3 and SL55 jobs, so maybe they just take better care of customers with more expensive cars lol.
