Default OC Mega Meet: Please vote for Time and Day~

Wow I am super lame. I forgot to make the other thread a poll... so please vote.

Lowfuel suggests that we do a canyon run in the morning due to less traffic so we can really DRIVE our Z's... if we run in the morning, we can have lunch after...

If we do the drive later in the afternoon, we can cruise and have dinner + drinks after.

I guess it's up to you guys what you want. I really don't care.

Also, we need to vote on either a Sat. or a Sun.

For me, I'd prefer Sat. afternoon. Coming from fricking Arcadia is gonna take awhile and I'm just not a morning person.

Just a lil note... the canyons are generally not that fun to go through during the daytime or afternoon hours... because there are more people and more cops. Morning time is the best and nightime ( a lil dangerous).

Just a thought...

Sunday morning is good for me. I haven't been to any meets/drives since I got my Z. Is it a pretty regular bunch of you guys that get together for these? How many are there usually?

ok, when you say morning, how early are we talking here? like 9 am, or like 7 am? i'm open to change - hate being stuck behind slow people on one lane roads

I've done two meets: San Diego in November as a guest of LowFuel and a Northern California meet just the past weekend that I hosted (check out NorCal regional for thread).

Mornings work better! In Marin County for our meet we had an awesome morning run - 2 hours of great drivin' with almost no tourists, etc. Plus lunch was well timed. . . The afternoon was good, but there were A LOT more people out and about, as well as more police (honest, they schedule more for afternoon/evening shifts)

Also a lot of people have other plans for their evenings/afternoons that some people have to leave for, but when you plan something for the morning people will tend to clear the calendar for that day.

I am in no way shape or form a morning person (I'm a college student for christsakes, I should be sleeping till 3!), but when a meet comes up I grab the coffee bean and head out.

Just my $0.02.

Um, some of us are 35+ and still going out on Friday nights. Trying to deal with a wash (1+ hours) before a meet in OC on Saturday morning while dealing with a 2 alarm hangover and sipping on Geritol isn't fun.

Are you sure you kids wouldn't care to meet in the afternoon?

I agree with both of you guys. I like the morning for less traffic, but I do party kinda hard on Friday AND Saturday nights. Mornings are pretty tough for me. But if there is a meet, and you guys decide on a morning, I'll stay home the night before.

Well, I can see this is really a split vote so far.

I think the case is that some people want a DRIVE in a meet. Others don't care about that so much... but just want a SOCIAL meet and pictures.

Well - if thats the case, what you do is plan a morning drive those of us that can restrain ourselves for one friday night per year (hehehe), and then plan the meet part of it for a specific time later in the day. People can just show up for the meet if they want.

Yeah Jason, I'm gonna go with you on that one. I mean, I love the social aspects of the meet, but I think its amplified when you get to sit around and talk about the portion that you just drove, talk about the vehicles dynamics during a specific stretch, etc. That's my favorite part of these meets - shared common insanity.

So I'm going to go with Jason on this one - I would love a morning (even late morning 11 am or so) drive out to the middle of nowhere, followed by an afternoon social meet & greet.

I've PM'd HPZ, who will be our generous host who has offered his home for us. If he wants something in the late afteroon/early evening, we'll meet at 10am or 11am.

If he would like for us to be there around lunch time, then a 8am or 9am is better.

I guess we'll see what he says.
