Cool California Drivers beware Speeding tickets

Subject: Fw: beware - speeding tickets up

There are several undercover Crown Victoria's out on
the freeways...I saw several yesterday on my way from
Pasadena--to be exact 5. You caanot see the lights
until you closely approach the vehicle and then it may
be to late. I know I have a heavy foot and I've seen
more of them in the mornings and late afternoons on
the 405. (not sure why they didn't list that fwy)

So, the word is.......................

California Highway Patrol will launch a 30-day
speeding ticket frenzy in CA starting January 25,
2006. The state estimates that 22 million dollars will
be generated in speeding tickets. 3 million will go to
pay California Highway Patrol officer overtime. There
will be 90 CaliforniaHighway Patrol officers on duty
at all times patrolling the 7 freeways. They are the

following: 73, 55, 133, 241, 57, 5, 605, 10, 60, 210
freeways.

Now 7 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and
every Califo rnia Highway Patrol officers are supposed
to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10
minutes.

They have issued 50 brand new unmarked Crown
Victoriacruisers and they are bringing all their part
timers on full time. If you live or work in
Californiayou must take one of these freeways. It's up
to you how fast you are doing when they do. This is a
test by the CHP to raise the extra funds for the State
of California. The California State Legislators
dreamed up this program to help close the budget gap.
So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on
you.

You've been warned.

Pass this on to your family and friends!

haha i see where our money is going now~ damn cops..
but most of those Unmarked Crown Victorias are Detective cars.. and they have better things to do then pull people over for speeding over 10 mph...

I don't know, I have seen a LOT more cops on the road recently. I think there may be something to this. There is no way that the number of cops I have seen is normal!

Its a hoax.

And to my knowledge... correct me if I'm wrong... an unmarked crown victoria can not pull you over. Unmarked Crown Victorias can be bought cheap at police auctions. And there have been several times where someone will buy these cars and pretend to be an umarked police car. They would pull cars over and car jack them. There have been some cases where they killed the drivers. This wasnt in California... but because of reasons such as this, I'm pretty sure an unmarked car cant pull you over.

You know, I don't think this is a hoax. My MOM told me the exact same thing. Cops are going to be going crazy this next month and give as many tickets as they can to raise some money. I'm pretty sure my mom doesn't read car forums (then again, i dont know EXACTLY where she got this information from), but I'm going to be more alert on the freeways regardless.

An unmarked car can pull you over, when they sell these cars at auction they take out the lights and other PD crap. A car has to have the blue and red light strip to pull you over. Hence, a park ranger cannot pull you over or an ambulance or fire engine. Cops are the only ones with blue and red lights and they are the only ones allowed to pull people over.

If there's an unmarked car trying to pull you over, isn't there a way to get conformation that the car is a cop?

Yeah it should have identification and i would think it would have lights inside also, If you dont feel comfortable that a unmarked car is pulling you over, you can pull over to well populated area or go to a near highway patrol station or sherriff, i dont believe the unmarked part, But i think they are trying to get as many tickets as they can, Cause i never seen a highway with a radar on the freeway, i saw them on the street but never on the freeway especially rush hour.

BTW - Does CHP have the cop cars with the lightbar inside the vehicle yet? I haven't seen any here but know they've got them all over texas.

Cops hate traffic like us.. So they avoid it.

Thier is two types of "stealth cars"
1. just plain white or black ones with the lights these cannot pull you over if i remember correctly.
2. The camaros, and crown vics that are painted but do not have lights on top but inside. THey can pull you over. I see them pull truckers over on the 60 all the time.

I think honestly with all the new technologie they should increase the speed limit to 75, Common we all know the Z is very comfortable at 80, They should be like in the autobohn slow vehicles to right, Let the faster vehicles on the left. But with all the traffic its rare when we can hit those speeds anyways. well be careful Z people lets not meet at traffic school o.k. keep your eyes out for the po po

The 71 should be on there too. Everytime i drive on that freeway i see someone doing atleast 90mph. I havent seen that many cops on any highways, so i doubt this is real

The state would lose too much money having the highways run efficiently. Therefore, it's better for the state to have fustrated drivers speed and issue tickets.
