What happened? I remember that place was so ghetto, but you would get your best trap there because of its elevation.

They tore it down, I believe it was for commercial buildings or something like that.

Try out Irwindale it's only 1/8 mile but by far the best track around

Hopefully, Fontana's new 1/4 mile strip will be better than the old one.

Pluses with the new track:
1. You should get tailwind advantage.
2. The launch pad will probably be better, but I doubt it.
3. Hopefully, the strip isn't slippery like the old one. For some odd reason I get wheelhop going into 4th gear on the old strip (sounds pretty scarry too).

The negatives of the new track:
1. Same elevation of about 1,100 feet.
2. When it gets hot in the summer, it's really damn hot.
3. Since it will be still a popular track, expect 3 to 4 runs out of a 12 hour day (includes waiting in line and tech inspection).

I went to Fontana and it took 3 hours to wait for inspection and for my car to get a number. Then, we waited another hour before we could get our first line. Then, another 30 minutes with all the other cars lined up to race ... then it rained so I didn't even get one run in ... SUCKS!

That's why you need to go to the pirvates, $100 and you get as many runs as you want. 30, 40 you decide since they only let 80 cars in.
That's the way to do it....but strangely there is usually maybe only 1 or 2 Z/G 's there besides myself.

The new track will be awesome because AAA is paying for it and they want to run professional events there. IDRC will have at least one of their events there this year.

I can't wait till April....but first April 8/9 IDRC West Coast Nationals.....yes it's my Z and me on the flyer

that would surprise me since they are running Nascar there and there are usually lots of pro cars already at the Drag Strip, NOPI and NDRA ran there and so forth.

If you mean Top Fuel cars in regards to Pro-Cars you might be right, that will stay in Pomona

yep, that was a fast track, kinda scary though if anything would ever go wrong, no ambulances, the long dirt road to get there...but it was definetely a track to set record runs

I'm a victim of high elevations in southern cali...

My best 1/4 in Fontana was 12.100

My best at LACR 1/4 was 12.400 on ET Streets and 12.45 on BFG Drag Radials

My best at Irwindale 1/8 was 7.76 with a 1.66 60'

Mods: APS TT at 9 psi (445 whp), crafword plenum, ultimate racing HF cats, APS 2.5 true dual exhaust, JWT Clutch and Flywheel, Driveshaft Shop level II axles, Stillen Radiator, Jegs Line Locks, ET Streets on regular events BFG Drag Radials at IDRC tuned by Brainstorm
