Thumbs up Just bought a house

My wife and I are moving back to Orange County in a month or so. I grew up in Mission Viejo but have been in Oregon since college. My wife just matched with the UCI plastic surgery residency program so we have to get down there by the beginning of June.

We flew down this weekend and had our offer accepted on a nice place in Anaheim Hills (91 & Weir Canyon). It's a bit "far" but the house is killer and totally stood out over every other place we looked it (around 2 dozen). Can't wait to move in.

Now I need to find a job down there...quick. Once I'm down there officially I want to meet up with the local Z crowd.

BS in Computer Science
I'm a Senior Web Developer w/ around 8 solid years of experience. Mostly ASP, HTML, SQL stuff but have been exposed to .NET as well. Mostly Microsoft-based experience. Java in college but not since.

I have a phone interview tomorrow after work with a consulting company in Brea. I hope that goes well...I'm trying to get something around $100k and they're in that range. Too bad my new mortage is 3x as much as what I pay now.

Welcome to Anaheim Hills. We are practically neighbors. I'm off Serrano and Canyon Creek (inside Belsomet). Let me know when you get settled so we can meet up and hit some canyon roads!

lol. Yeah right. I can't believe how crazy the real estate market is in So Cal. At this point I hope I can still afford food.

haha. Let me put it this way...we bought our house in Portland 4 years ago for $160k and it's a decent place near freeways and 10 mins from downtown. We're listing it at $280k or something next week. That's about HALF of what we saw prices START at in OC.

But then again, nothing beats So Cal so it's worth it.

Property value has skyrocketed in the past 6 years and California has been one of the biggest sellers. Come check out the homes in Glendale, its scary how expensive we have em here.

Congrats on the house.

Rates just went up recently and we're at like 6% or 6.2% or something. Honestly, my wife has been kind enough to leave me out of the specifics (which I have no interest in). I can found out who it's through if you'd like.

You got that right!

My attention to detail is minimal whereas she is a perfectionist. If I do something she's going to want it done better so I just let her do it. That seems to work for both of us.
