Had reservations at matsuhisa, but were running late so we stopped by mortons in costa mesa. I thought they might be closed, but we were able to be seated past 10:30.

I'm normally a filet mignon type of person, but from a recommendation from a bartender, I've gotten the cajun ribeye the last two times. Perhaps I wasn't in the mood for steak tonight, but don't think it was as good as last time. My favorite parts of the meal were the lobster cocktail and shrimp cocktail along with the dessert. Overall, it's good quality food, but nothing overly impressive.

If mortons had been closed, we would have gone down the street to Habana. It's a cuban restaurant with a good vibe that's open late. The food is pretty good, fair pricing and their is usually some talent running around.

Guys, if you're ever in San Diego I would recommend Jake's Del Mar. It's probably one of the best places to take your girl or family for the view alone:

www.jakesdelmar.com

But if you're too far from San Diego, they do have a sister restaurant: Duke's Huntington Restaruant:

Let me know if you have another one there. I couldn't have made it today anyway, but I work about 2 blocks away from that location.

I've got a few ideas for Orange County:

1) Las Brisas in Laguna Beach - $$
2) 5 Crowns in Corona Del Mar - $$ .5$
3) 21 Oceanfront in Newport Beach - $$$
4) Sutra Lounge in Costa Mesa - $$ .5$ Also, this place turns into a night club after 10PM.
5) Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel - $$$+
