What do you suggest then? I only vaguely remember the 154. I didn't actually drive it myself and it was about 8 or 9 years ago. Should we do the 154 or just stick to the 101? I don't mind either way, but since I'm ready to put up all the official info, I want to make sure it's all accurate and we don't have to go back and change it. You think we will get hassled if we drive carefully?

I think you should include 154. Don't let my post dissuade you, it really is a nice road. At the north end of 154, right before you hit the 101, it makes for a nice photo opportunity if we stop there for a sec.

The annual bimmerfest road rally includes 154 in their route, and they always stop right by the exit.

Hahah...I don't really know the road either, but I only remember it from the map I posted since we used that route to get to Lake Cachuma/Solvang several years back.

Okay, well I'll stick with it then. I just don't want to deal with the hassle if it could be avoided. But if we take it easy and don't do anything stupid, then hopefully we'll be fine.

BTW, whenever HyperSprite gets back to me, I'll post up the two new threads with all the official info.

154 is an awesome drive, I take it several times a year when I visit my folks in Cambria (7 miles south of the castle). Just know at that time of day, and being summer, we will be stuck behind SLOW moving vehicles with boats and nowhere to pass. Works for me as it is a beautiful drive.

Yeah, the only concern I have is other cars blocking our path, but if I recall correctly, there are passing lanes and turnouts (?) periodically. Plus most drivers are curteous enough to move out of the way to let others pass, especially if they are slow moving. And I bet it's pretty intimidating to see a whole pack of Z's and G's riding your tail, so they'd be wise to move.

From experience, some people NEVER pull over no matter how many people are following them.

Yeah, that happened to the Norcal crew once going back to the Bay Area from Hearst Castle. I think that was 2 years ago. Sometimes I feel a little bad for some of the drivers who do pull over. They think they're pulling over for maybe half a dozen sports cars, and it ends up being more like 20.

Trucks are generally pretty cool. RVs suck.

Okay guys, its seems like Chris has put up the itinerary for NorCal. I was looking through it and it seems like they are having lunch before getting to Hearst Castle. I didn't include anything for food and have an arrival time for about 1PM at HC. What would you guys like to do? I don't know the area at all so I can't really say what is out there. Again, if you guys want to do some research and help me out, you can look for places close to either Hearst Castle or the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. Here are the two addresses.

MADONNA INN
100 Madonna Rd
San Luis Obispo, CA

HEARST CASTLE
750 Hearst Castle Road
San Simeon, CA 93452

If you don't already know, we will be making a stop in San Luis Obispo (Madonna Inn) to meet up with the Central Coast Z's at about 12:00PM. Any comments or suggestions?

Once I get this input from you guys, I can put up my finalized info since I don't want to keep revising.

It'd be best if there were an In-N-Out along the way!

Okay, from my limited searching, it seems like the closest In-N-Out is in Santa Maria, CA. It's located right off of the freeway as well. If we leave at 9:00AM from the Starbucks in Woodland Hills, we should get to the In-N-Out at about 11:30AM and can have our lunch there. Does that sound good to you guys?

Also, if the Central Coast Z guys want to meet up over here instead, we can do that too. If not, we can still meet them at the next meeting spot at the Madonna Inn. I'll let you guys decide.

Okay I PM'd the guy and he said meeting up at the In-N-Out would be fine. So I think I'm ready to put up the final info tonight. Here is a quick summary:

STARBUCKS - Woodland Hills
5422 Topanga Canyon Blvd
Woodland Hills, California 91364
(818) 340-5053

Drive up 101/154/101

Lunch @ In-N-Out 11:30AM and leave at 12:30PM
IN-N-OUT - Santa Maria
1330 S. Bradley Road
Santa Maria, CA 93454

Drive up 101/1

Arrive @ Hearst Castle 1:45PM
