Default ***OFFICIAL*** NorCal/SoCal Hearst Castle Meet ***July 8, 2006***

Alright guys, here is the OFFICIAL thread for the Summer 2006/Hearst Castle Z & G Meet (SoCal Information). You guys are probably aware of this meet if you have been following the "planner" threads:

https://my350z.com/forum/northern-california/183744-summer-so-nor-cal-hearst-castle-meet-norcal-signup.html (NorCal)
https://my350z.com/forum/southern-california/194886-summers-here-hearst-castle-planner-poll-vote-now.html (SoCal)

After taking a poll and getting input from people, it was decided that this meet is going to happen on Saturday, July 8, 2006. This is going to be an all-California meet, so make sure you come out and represent! We are going to be meeting at Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA, which is conveniently located half-way between LA and SF. This will provide for a nice long cruise with your fellow Z's and G's along the beautiful California coast-line.

In the below post, you will see who is currently signed up. Add your name to the list if you are interested in coming out! If you are from NorCal, please sign up in the NorCal thread located here:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=183744

And don't be shy about coming out. Whether your Z or G is bone stock, all-show, or a highway beast, you are encouraged to come out! It's a great way to get ideas and see what others have done to their cars!

General Information:
Who: Open to all Z’s and G’s
What: A cruise/meet from NorCal/SoCal to Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA
When: Saturday, July 8, 2006 (times listed below)
Where: Starts off at Starbucks in San Jose (NorCal) or Woodland Hills (SoCal), with a drive along the coast-line, ending at Hearst Castle (San Simeon, CA)
Why: Gives a chance for the Norcal/Socal guys to meet up, and allows for a fun day of scenic driving

SoCal-Specific Information:
Our official meeting spot will be at the Starbucks in Woodland Hills. The address for this location is:
STARBUCKS - Woodland Hills
5422 Topanga Canyon Blvd
Woodland Hills, California 91364
(818) 340-5053
We will meet at this location at 8:00AM as has been suggested. Plan to arrive early and with your gas tank full so we don't waste too much time as we are about to leave. We can mingle and take pix for about 30 to 45 minutes, which should give people plenty of time to arrive. At about 8:45AM, we'll get together for any last-minute questions, setting our FRS radios (if you have them), and to make sure we are prepared to depart. At 9:00AM, we will begin our cruise and start driving north towards Santa Maria, where we will stop for lunch and meet up some Central Coast Z guys at the In-n-Out, which is located at:
IN-N-OUT - Santa Maria
1330 S. Bradley Road
Santa Maria, CA 93454
The drive from the Starbucks in Woodland Hills to the In-N-Out in Santa Maria is supposed to take about 2.5 hours. Of course, this is if we stay on track and we go the speed limit, and there's no traffic, etc. We may stop for some pix, getting gas, or regrouping, so it may take a bit longer. So assuming we leave at 9:00AM, we should be able to meet up with the Central Coast Z's at about 11:30AM, give or take a few. At this point, we'll take an hour break for lunch, gas, and just stretching out. Having said that, our depart time should be around 12:30PM from the In-N-Out. At this point, we will continue our cruise to Hearst Castle, which is located at:
HEARST CASTLE
750 Hearst Castle Road
San Simeon, CA 93452
The drive from the In-N-Out in Santa Maria to Hearst Castle in San Simeon is supposed to take about 1.25 hours. So that means we should arrive at Hearst Castle at about 1:45PM.

Once we arrive at Hearst Castle, we will meet up with the NorCal crew. We can check out each others rides, take pix, or tour the Castle. If you are interested in a tour of the Castle, they have them running all day, but it is recommended that you order your tickets early as they have no guarantee they will be available at the door. You can visit http://www.hearstcastle.org/ for more information. Beyond this, I don't know what you guys want to do. It really is up to you guys, and I don't want to waste my time planning something when I think people will want to do different things.

If some people want to drive back down together, we can also do that as well. We can leave Hearst Castle as a group at around 5:00 or 6:00PM, which should give us a nice drive home.

The drive should be pretty straight-forward, but here are the directions from Starbucks in Woodland Hills to the In-N-Out in Santa Maria:

1: Start out going NORTH on TOPANGA CANYON BLVD / CA-27 N toward CLARENDON ST.
2: Turn LEFT onto BURBANK BLVD.
3: Merge onto US-101 N via the ramp on the LEFT.
4: Take the STATE ST exit toward CA-154 / CACHUMA LAKE.
5: Turn LEFT onto STATE ST.
6: Turn RIGHT onto SAN MARCOS PASS RD / CA-154. Continue to follow CA-154.
7: Merge onto US-101 N.
8: Take the BETTERAVIA RD exit toward SISQUOC.
9: Turn LEFT onto E BETTERAVIA RD.
10: Turn RIGHT onto S BRADLEY RD.
11: End at 1330 S Bradley Rd
Santa Maria, CA 93454-8050, US

Here are the directions from the In-N-Out in Santa Maria to Hearst Castle in San Simeon:

1: Start out going NORTH on S BRADLEY RD toward E STOWELL RD.
2: Turn RIGHT onto E STOWELL RD.
3: Merge onto US-101 N via the ramp on the LEFT.
4: Take the CA-1 N exit toward MORRO BAY / HEARST CASTLE.
5: Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto TORO ST / CA-1.
6: Turn RIGHT onto CA-1 / WALNUT ST.
7: Turn RIGHT onto CA-1 N / SANTA ROSA ST. Continue to follow CA-1 N.
8: Turn RIGHT onto HEARST CASTLE RD (Gate access required).
9: End at 750 Hearst Castle Rd
San Simeon, CA 93452-9740, US

Here is the map of the full route (from Woodland Hills to Hearst Castle)

Additional Things to Consider:
You may want to bring an FRS radio if you have one so we can all communicate with each other. Make sure you are gassed-up and ready to go so we don't have too many delays. You may want to bring along bottled water or pick some up at the gas station since it's going to be a long drive. If you want to caravan out to the meeting spots, you can put links on this thread to let others know where to meet before meeting up with the larger group. Just make sure you get there on time because nobody likes waiting!

Most importantly, please drive responsibly and DO NOT RACE OR SPEED ON THE CRUISE.

Thanks! I just hope we don't hit up too many twisties after In-N-Out! Oh well, I plan on being the last car on the caravan anyways.

I'm from this area and sell seafood to most of the restaurants here. There is a large Costco parking lot right next to the in-n-out in Santa Maria. Should make for easy parking. There is also a large parking lot a Madonna Inn, but it gets quite crowded on the weekends. I can try to make arrangements if you want any help.

Cool. Are you going to be joining us at the In-N-Out then? And the Madonna Inn is a little north of us, so I think we are going to skip that unless some people also want to meet up there. But for now, just the stop at the In-N-Out, maybe the Madonna Inn if we want to take some pix or something.

The lastime we when up there, our cars drove thru some acid rain so we had to wash the cars again in the drive way of one of the central Calif guys. Might consider washing it again before you swing in the Heast Castle. I always carry my wash& detail bucket to a meet.

I'm going to wash and detail my car before heading out. Assuming it doesn't rain, I'll have my California duster and quick detailer on hand for cleaning during breaks.

Guys, I never even considered this, but how big is the parking lot at Hearst Castle? We have about 50 cars (so far) among NorCal/SoCal, so even if 60% show up, we want a spot where we can park all our cars together. Is the Hearst Castle parking lot big enought to accommodate us all? Last time I went there was when I was like 9 or 10 so I can't remember.

Do you guys want badges/lanyards?

I can go ahead and buy those if you guys want. If someone can buy the badge inserts, that would be great!

Let me know if you guys are interested. Also, if someone can maybe work up a quick logo or design for the badge, that might be kinda cool too
