...I will never know.
My detector caught 4 ChPs on the way to Vegas. However on the way back is when it really saved me...again.
He was using that instant-on POP crap--I think. I was going about "xx" speed and this Hyundai, yes a Hyundai, was doing like 15mph faster than me. Way too fast. Near felony speeds coming up behind me.
So as I brace myself for the humilation of being passed by the Hyundai my detector gives me a quick, single, KA bleep, then nothing. I remember I have POP turned off so I assume that I might have just been hit with a quick low power flash of POP. (if the officer sticks to protocal he's supposed to then do a full on trigger pull to confirm) I downshift and get to around 75mph and then my detector goes nuts, but in the K band this time. The Hyundai is behind me and falling back.
About a mile up under an overpass I see the officer *just barely* poking out in his patrol car. I pass him doing 70mph, the limit. However in my rearview I see the Hyundai is accelerating as if to correct his mistake of slowing down! He quickly starts slicing traffic, wooshes past the patrol car...and yup...he's nailed.
My detector is a Bel RX65Pro model but I also have a V1 waiting to be installed.

Those machines are expensive. How much is a speeding ticket?
Considering I've never gotten a speeding ticket in about 9 years of driving, I don't think it would've been worth the investment.
But if the cost of the detector is less than the cost of a ticket, it would be worth it. Hmm

Well, mine was $350.00, and my first speeing ticket, along with driving school, etc, totalled $230.00. Glad I have one, but I need to learn more about the yelling and screaming sounds it shouts out at me.....

Was the Hyundai silver in color I think it was an Elantra? The same SOB past me like I was standing still and disappeared into the blue. He overtook me just before we reach the stateline. I later caught up to him going down the Cajon Pass which I thought was weird. I hope it was him cause he was in and out of the lanes like you said.

For the OP, where was this particular overpass? On my way to and from vegas, I try to keep it around 90-100, but try to make sure to stay under 100 as the severity of the ticket would be much greater.
